@SupraDarky I played it. It was good enough to play through, but don't try too hard to compare it to lufia 2. The gameplay is so different it's kind of funny to try to compare them. There is alot going for it but most of it didn't seem refined. It starts out fairly difficult and then you just seem to level too quickly making the game very easy. The worst part for me was that they made Guy out to be an idiot and would constantly crack jokes about it. Anyway it was a fun 10ish hours of gameplay.
@SupraDarky There's some changes to the plot, both good and bad. The romance between Maxim and Selan comes off more forced, but characters don't go leaving the party permanently, so you get to keep Tia and Dekar. Probably the biggest change is that the Sinistrals make their presence known right at the start of the game.

The music from around 0:34 reminds me of the victory music in Secret of Mana.
The DS version lost a lot of the magic of the SNES version simply by changing the surreal combination of lighthearted exploration and claustrophobic, world-ending catastrophe. Play the SNES version first, and please consider adding the opening medley (opening credits) to the list. It's second only to the Fortress of Doom theme as the best music Natsume ever produced.
You should add some KOF music ! King of the fighters has some great themes
@garfreeek Yeah play the SNES version first. The DS version makes a lot of changes story wise. It's the same overall plot, but lots of details have been changed. And for some reason the game is shorter than the original.
@WhispersOfEssence story wise as well? and i should probably play the snes version before the ds version right?
@SupraDarky It's an alright game, but don't go in expecting it to be Lufia II. It's very loosely based on the original.
@SupraDarky Have been subscribed to you for quite some time now, and finally seeing another Lufia 2 song now! =D Still think it's one of the most awesome games ever made (especially on SNES) !! =D

This game was so good, it was onpar with the classics of Squaresoft from the 16-bits era!
Sounds very Zelda? More like sounds very Okami. Especially 0:20-0:34 and wherever it repeats. Or Chrono Trigger if anything, or something.
Ydeah, I still think this has one of the best soundtracks in a rpg!
@SupraDarky The DS version, it's okay as a standalone game, but not as a part of the Lufia franchise. They have rewritten a good portion of the orginial game's story. They as well increased the size of the dungeons and making them much harder, which wouldbn't normally be a bad thing if it weren't for annoying camera views and sparsly-put save points.
This is, hands down, the best RPG I've played on the SNES (yeah, better that CT imo). And its soundtrack is amazing!

@SupraDarky I enjoyed the DS version, but it suffers from a lot of technical problems. Many times during combat the game will slow down drastically. That is my only major complaint. Oh! And the pronunciation of "Gades"... it sounds like "Godess" and I'm not too thrilled about that either...
@SupraDarky i've played, and it really changed, to start with, in the DS version, maxim and alexis are close friends since long ago... and a lot of different things, but the basic story remains the same

@SupraDarky I beat it, it wasn't bad. I prefer the original but I did appreciate it still. They gave the characters a little more personality (original wasn't that lacking though, so not huge difference) and I did appreciate the more streamlined story. Oh and the soundtrack mmmmm good :)
Great game, would love to replay the first two someday. On another note, I still haven't made much progress on my guess yet...seven from last time still there, though my thoughts are more partial now toward either Donkey Kong or Final Fantasy. So, down to 6... Ah well. No matter what it's a great list and odds are you'll [post an amazing piece with some good commentary and questions for 900. Wow, 900...I've been watching this profile for 891 songs now. Amazing how time flies.

The DS Version is passable, but i would have mych preferred it if they had stuck with the turnbased gameplay
It was pretty good. It was a good remake. I am hoping they remake part 2 as well.
You knew you were nearing the end of the game when you heard this theme play in a dungeon. Anyone tried the DS version? I've heard good and bad words, I know it's very different now since it's been made into an action RPG.
