I only had one problem with Windwaker. one major problem that I think ruined my childhood. IT WAS TOO GOD DAMN SHORT! It needed more dungeons, more islands, more sidequests! I think this game deserves a true sequel, not phantom hourglass which was more of a linear adventure!

I have to say, I've never had the opportunity to play a zelda game growing up. We had an N64 but never got a Zelda game. Hopefully once windwaker HD comes out I'll finally get that opportunity!

Just when I thought Zelda lost it's luster for me I go and play Skyward Sword and get enchanted all over again. Then I come back and look at this game and remember how enchanting it was. I don't care what anyone says about the visuals they are fantastic! Man gamecube was so underrated. If someone asked me If I wanted a PS2 or gamecube. No competition it would be a gamecube along with Wind Waker, Sunshine, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Melee, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmins..Eh not enough room..

My personal favorite Zelda game. I remember people hating on Wind Waker either for its art style or for the tedious sailing, and every single one of them were declaring that Twilight Princess was going to be miles better... The funny thing is, when they realized how much of a disappointment Twilight Princess was, and replayed Wind Waker several years later, they began to appreciate how much of a good game Wind Waker really and actually is.

@wwTheTrueWarioww I don't really htink it's that overrated anymore because I hear so many people saying it'stheir favorite. OoT will always be by far my favorite with WW in second, but MM is great. My problem had basically nothing to do with the three day sytem. It was more that it was just too short of a game and I didn't like how pretty much every npc was the same as OoT with a different name.
@wwTheTrueWarioww Lol yes having do restart a temple or just quests in general because you didn't make the time limit and then had to go back and technically lose all progress was BS imo even if it was intentional. Also how you actually save your game is one of the most retarded way to save I've ever heard of in my life. You'd think those flaws would actually break the game, but it really doesn't somehow. Guess there can never be a generally accepted Nintendo-made "bad" Zelda. :)
@charger619c You're saying MM is overrated? It's one of the most underrated games, if anything. As for my opinion, I really like it, however, the 3-day thing really put me off. What I most like about zelda games is that you can explore as much as you want, but in MM, if you do that then you just have to start over because you don't have forever.
Beating the game made me sad because I knew no Zelda game would ever be quite that awesome. Perfect music, story (mostly), gameplay and graphics.

Happy 8th anniversary, Wind Waker. I'm glad I got and beat WW by the time it came out. It has an outstanding and original soundtrack. My older cousin always teased me because I played this game. "You're too old to play this shit!". Shut up! This was one of the best games of 2003. Agreed?
@d3nyd It's below MM and OoT for me, but this music seems to hold a greater nostalgic factor than those two games. And I beat it last year!

I prefer Wind Waker over Twilight Princess, 'cause WW surprised me in a positive way. When it was announced, I said: "WTF! A Zelda game can't look like that". But when I got it in 2003, I just loved its stunning, non-realistic, but beautiful graphics, and the sea feature. Too bad it was too short, though. On the other hand, I expected much more from TP. It's a great game, but it brought no innovation at all. It's just an Oot wannabe.

let me just make this clear... graphics aren't everything in games. In fact, to make a good game doesn't necessarily mean that you have to have HD and realistic graphics all the time! Wind waker is a prime example to what i just said there

@mirrorpiece i don't think cartoonish, zelda artwork always attempted to reach matureness, and games too, i prefer thinking that way, because if so, wind waker would be the game who introduced this style, no matter if it is tp graphics or whatever, wind waker will always be beautiful
Wind Waker has always been, for me, the best LoZ game. For all the excellence that is the rest of the LoZ, WW and it's atmosphere stand out slightly to me among the other games of the series, and all of gaming as a whole, as something I've failed to find most anywhere else.
this is my favorite Zelda game (after OoT that is). But still it is an amazing game with beautiful graphics, a stunning soundtrack and an engaging story. I'd be willing to play it at any hour of any day till the end of time!
I got into a zelda mood one time and was like why not pla windwaker...5 minutes later I wass balling my eyes out watching the beginning credit/intro......I was just thinking of memories...mhmhmhmh I love this game.
Zelda has always been catroonish. Just look up the old artwork, Zelda I , II , III , IV. OoT was the game what did something new. Windwaker took up the old style, and as we know, when you ''convert'' cartoon to 3D.. what does thou get? Yes; cel shaded graphics. The people who whine about it are either naiv and dumb, or just aren't true Zelda fans.
@daviaker I like to think A Link to the Past "started" Zelda as we know it. I mean, ALttP basically gave us a lot of the famous Zelda themes (Zelda's lullaby, Ganon's theme, Hyrule Castle) and of course, started off the sort of plot progression we see in most Zelda games (3 things to collect, get Master Sword, collect some more stuff). But I see what you mean. OoT was definitely very innovative and indeed, no other Zelda game has emulated its critical success.
@JonnyJinx04 well technically not, but it got the highest rating on every game review sites compared to all its predecessors. Atleast for my generation that is born at the end of 80s or start of the 90s did not grow up with 8 bit, someone had super nintendo, but i think most had nintendo 64 and playstation, and the first game that introduced me to the zelda world was ocarina of time hehe. But i guess the older guys got more experience with the series than me.
@jwild611 Believe me, even though the Cell-Shading can be pretty annoying for those of us that have grown attached to the old-style graphics, the game itself is extremely good, both gameplay and storywise. I would go for it. I got it at a rip-off price, but would gladly pay double that price knowing how good the thing is.

On gameplay, this game doesn't score too high, but it's still great. However, what makes this game so superb is the fact that it has some of the best music in a zelda game yet, and I wish they were able to bring that over to some of the other zelda games. Even phantom hourglass and spirit tracks didn't have the same great feel as this, even though the style and all that was based on Wind Waker. Anyways, thanks for the upload.

@Bunearylover7 welcome to being an otaku in japan, where most women are out for money, and not love. great soundtrack, though i didnt think WW was that great of a zelda game, it was way too easy, and much more tedious than i would like. OoT is still the best in my opinion then its LA and OoS/OoA with TP after that, with LttP, then MM, i would put WW under MM. MM was ruined because of the time limit, but then the overworld theme brought back memories.

Within the first 25 uploads, there are 3 Wild Arms songs. As humans, we really can't be unbiased, but he's tried his hardest to spread out the songs.

I sailed to this island only to hear the song, never did that in a game except in OOT for the Gerudo Valley theme.
i forgot the best one!! when you're following the girl around on windfall island and she almost catches you out, and link makes a meowing noise! sheer brilliance.
not missing much?! this game was a rich cinematic tapestry, a beautiful spectrum of moods and emotions. *SPOILER ALERT!* remember the scene on top of the tower of the gods, where link rings the bell by swinging from it? the deep blue of the sky, the sound of the wind... or the scene before when the triforce lights up on the water? or when the pirates launch you from their catapult? hilarious.
twilight princess had a complete lack of soul. it wasn't so much dark and gritty, as it was dark and empty. it felt cold compared to this. windwaker felt like a legitimate evolution of oot and mm, twilight princess felt wrong.

nah, my favorite theme from this game is the theme from Jalhalla's fight, seriously fast and slihtly creepy as well. Still, this theme is amazing as well.
This game has an awesome OST. Dragon Roost Island, Molgera, the Great Sea, Hyrule Castle... Those are all awesome themes.

Soundtracks today have a tendency to rely too much on orchestration and end up having completely uninteresting basic melodies, but this song was actually inspiring and beautiful. I'm glad.
The combat was certainly a lot more satisfying.
It's such a shame that this game was poorly received by the fans. They were just afraid to take any newness into the series. It easily had the best soundtrack of any Zelda game.
It had a really unique and cool visual style, but don't look for high texture renders or a lot of realism. Gameplay was similar to other Zelda titles, if that's what you're looking for then it's quite fun. The vast amount of time you spend on the sea going from place to place gets monotonous but does convey a sense of space and isolation. If you need a Zelda fix and you finished the new one, maybe give it a spin. You're not missing much if you skip this one, tho.

naw painful is when u had to find all the piece of the god damn fucking triforce WITHOUT ANY CLUE! meanign u find it urself. gotta sail across the damn ocean for soo long. took me 2 years to find all the pieces without help. game never gave u a fucking hint either. only hidden messages that refer to the triforce but never any solid clue or hints to where its at or get to it

I found this out a week or two ago: the legend at the beginning of the game that says Ganon was released and Link disappeared was talking about when you go back in time and take the sword out, which frees Ganon. He returned to the present, and Link was still in the past, which explains why the hero was "not present" when Ganon returned. So, the whole thing is Link's fault.
One of the best songs in the game! I think, for anyone who has played this game, this song is one of their faves. I know it is one of mine.

This game was awesome. It is probably the easiest Zelda, I've beaten all of them except the CD-I games but I loved the style of this game. At first I was skeptical and remember many people calling it kiddy but I loved it. And the music is great, sounds like tribal music.
TP sucks a lot. WW is the first and last game in this style and for me it became a real legend so it should stay inviolable. TP has no unique style, its the worst Zelda I ever played and I played a lot.
