This version is so much fucking better than the SNES one, and this is coming from a guy who generally prefers the originals over the GBA ports. Stop saying that the music was butchered you nostalgia-blinded tards and enjoy some actual adventure music.

For the most part, I prefer Eveline Fischer's SNES soundtrack and find the GBA soundtrack surprisingly weak for being composed by the great David Wise. There are some exceptions though, and this is the one track in the GBA version that I can definitely say I prefer over its SNES counterpart.
I agree completely. I give the SNES soundtrack the nod or a draw for almost every track in the game, but this version of Stilt Village is the clear winner to me.

I find FOR THE GBA this music kick's ass and SOUNDS NEAR IDENTICAL to a SNES MUSIC! Unlike the previous music which sounded POOR compared to the original. This is AMAZING! I like the SNES Originally ALLOT for different reasons.

@SupraDarky That;s not really true. Yes, SNES has much better sound quality than Game Boy Advance, but it has much less memory space. You'd have to compress or shorten most of the samples and maybe even remove a few or SNES wouldn't be able to handle it. Sorry, I just had to correct you there.

This version is a better song but I think it's so epic for goofy stages like the Lakes. Altough this version fits excellent on the waves stage in Pacifica and it's dark blue atmosphere
This song is so much more fitting than SNES Stilt Village which sounded too...like a camping theme. This sounds like the start of an adventure and you can definitely place this theme at a water level.

During the 90's i was a kid and yes i played donkey kong country at south coast plaza in ca during that time it first came out. I've gotten all the banna birds for the snes and beaten the game too very entertaining but nowa days is crap. You dig.
I consider the SNES version to be Kiddy Kong's theme song.
The Snes versions sound goofy and were not composed by Dave Wise, you know the guy behind aquatic ambiance, life in the mines, sticker brush symphony. The GBA version is composed by him.

Okay this is something I've been wondering for a bit. Are the sound files stored on GBA cartridges super low bitrate or something? In all the GBA songs you've uploaded that I can think of, there's that bitcrushed sound... The composing's still solid though. :P

DKC3 GBA's music needs more love. And I can't find MIDIs of it ANYWHERE. Seriously, I've looked everywhere I can think of and found a grand total of two for the entire soundtrack, one of which is missing some pretty significant parts and the other of which is for one of the tracks that was just a remix of an existing DKC one...

As far as the songs themselves go, I like this song a lot better than the SNES version. The only problem I have with this song is that it just doesn't go with the levels in the game. The stilt village levels are REALLY light-hearted, while this song is quite dark.

Sorry, but Dave Wise really brings out the atmosphere of DKC3 with his version of the soundtrack . Yes, all of it. Dare I say...I prefer it over the SNES soundtrack.

@Martin D. Two-year-old comment, I know, but Wise did roughly a fifth or a quarter of the SNES DKC3 soundtrack. His work mostly involved the NPCs and bonus music (he did the arrangement of SM64's Inside the Castle Walls when Wrinkly's playing her N64, for instance). It's also notable that Eveline Novakovic (Fischer at the time) composed roughly a third of the music for DKC1 (including the temple, forest, and treetop themes), so she wasn't a stranger to the series when she took the music lead in DKC3.

I have to ask, what do you think of the Waterfall theme from the GBA port? I found that track, along with Stilt Village and Treetop Tumble, to be the best of all.

This isn't too bad. I don't like it as much as the snes version though. The snes version was way more catchy. This one kept the DKC style to it.

I like both versions of Stilt Village. I think this 1 fits better in a level found only in the Game Boy Advance version. That would be the Stormy Sea level I think it's called. All I know is that it's not in the Super Nintendo version.
@Epicish I think A Link to the Past's music was simpler, as it came out many years before DKC3 did. DKC3 probably pushed the SNES's sound capabilities further, meaning it would be harder to translate to the GBA.
@SupraDarky I like both versions, but the SNES version felt more in-tune with the atmosphere of the game to me. This sounds more like a DKC2 tune.

@SupraDarky Another good one was the boss theme used for Arich and Kroctopus. I don't know why they didn't just use that one for the main GBA boss theme instead of the bland and cruddy one they used for the rest of them (Even Kaos and K.roolenstein)

I also think that Stilt Village and Water World are the most noteworthy songs from this game (and for me, that includes the SNES version).

This sounds a lot like another DKC track but I'm having trouble placing it. Any ideas? The GBA soundtrack was so vastly different, even in tone. It's a much less jolly and serious sound. It's very hard to pick one over the other because they're too different.
It's a good tune, but I don't think it matches the levels theme of the game well at all. I prefer the SNES version over the GBA remake, which is weird to say because David Wise did the remake.

There are 2 songs from the GBA version that I find very solid, which is this one and Water World. While I like both Water World versions, I vastly prefer this version over SNES' Stilt Village.
