@Nicolás Brizuela Nope Richter is the most powerful it's even aluded in the story many times. Simon is one the most memorable though. Still Rchter is indeed my favorite among the Belmonts, followed by Trevor(because he managed to win me over in Curse of darkness with the falcon punch, the Whipryuken and the damn kicking combos.)

The Forgotten One was basically supposed to be the game's super boss. And while he is a pain in the ass, he's not too hard when you figure out how to deal with all the shit he throws at you. I beat him before without too much trouble.
Yeah, thinking back on it, it seemed pretty easy I just had to handle the crap he threw. That and im older now so Im better than I was 2 years ago
@Randomdeath91 Yeah, he wasn't too bad. The grappling mechanics although, oh my god, I remember raging so hard because of how they worked. It could've been good, but the way they did it was just butchered to all hell.

People like you ruined gaming for people like me. I'm absolutely sick of all the streamlining. Besides, those games you listed ARE streamlined, none have had the depth of Symphony of the Night Real shame it didn't have a hard mode though and soul steal was basically a cheat code. As for recent handhelds: Order of Occlesia kicked ass. All it needed was a bigger castle and perhaps a little more gameplay depth.
Honestly, before I replayed it, this was the theme I remembered from the game. Not the theme necessarily, but that this place (though I couldn't remember the name, I knew it was the 'lab place) had the music that I thought was kick-ass.

I think of it as borrowing from the best of both LoI (which did it first) and God of War(which was an improvement on the formula). And it's not like following in their footsteps is a bad thing. I haven't really gotten to play Lords of Shadow (only played the demo) so I can't really say much though.

I'll say it: This game was actually pretty rockin'. So was Curse of Darkness. They weren't perfect, but they did the series some justice...unlike Lords of God of Waa...I mean Shadow.
I personally think they spend too much time on creative gameplay elements, when they should focus on making the gameplay streamlined, and better for 3D games. I mean, I loved the DSS cards from Circle of the Moon, and liked the Book/Subweapon system of Harmony of Dissonance, and the Souls of Aria/Dawn were neat, but the other handhelds of late feel kinda...forced to me.

My favorite song of this game by far. It's also my 2nd favorite behind SOTN. I think this is one of THE best VG music tracks ever made. Techno with classical hints and spooky sounds mixed it! It reeks of awesomeness!

dude the game has very the great athmosphere of castlevania it plays like sotn only in 3d. Overall LOI is a must play for any castlevania fan.
oh trust me its in this game as well. i grew up with all those older games as well. simon's quest, super castlevania, SOTN... and i gave the newer ones a shot just because i loved the series up to that point. while some of the soundtracks lack the flow and old Gothic feeling that the older games had, most of them are VERY good additions to the series and extremely worth listening to.
@xSayPleasex I'd warn against most of the 3D Castlevanias. The exception would be Lament of Innocence. 2nd best in the series in my opinion after SOTN, and ive played them all. Probably the most memorable of all of them

I like to go to this stage and make Leon dance to the music. I just go to a room, beat all the enemies, and do a victory dance to the groovy music. Press the block button and make him scoot dance. Do some crazy acrobatic dancing. Leon isn't just a warrior...he's a fierce dancer.

@Barbagerbe I'm an "old timer" also, I would recommend giving the 3D Castlevania's a try. This is actually the only upbeat techno-ish track on the OST. Also, Curse of Darkness's OST is even better than Lament's, it's amazing actually

@alxxz hi yes this IS a Castlevania game. It tells the story of the 1st Belmont and Creator of the Belmont Clan: Leon Belmont. It's...not as big as SotN... it has 7 stages and mostly of the stages have 2 parts...the stages are actually pretty short tho... Secrets? yes it has some: Secret bosses, hidden weapons and itens and a few secret areas. This game is pretty fun to play and it isn't as gory and repetitive as GoW...and the music just makes you wanna play some more :D

Even if you dont care, I'll tell ya anyway, so other who don't know can se this too ;P Every enemy have fixed drops.. upp to two drops each, some enemies drop nothing. There is a bestiary in game that tell what they drop, if they have droped anything up til the point you look it up. If they have not droped anything yet there will be marked with "?????" so you'll know if they can drop anything. Every Castlevania game post Symphony of the nighty work like that.

I would imagine so since they've been making Castlevania games for over 20 years. Theres a movie planned for it. (though thats gonna suck) A new 360 game coming out etc. It's really more a matter of preference. The older ones are more about platforming, while the newer ones are a bit like Metroid. It couldn't hurt to look into it.

It's the "first" entry in the Castlevania series. Basically the plot equals out to Dracula does stuff. Member of the Belmont Clan doesn't think it's funny, and fucks up Dracula. And that's pretty much it.
yea I actually love this and think it's one of the Better Castlevanias....actually had a story other than Draculas castle reappeated.....This is the only 3d Castlevania game that was any good...and Leon Belmont is the coolest Belmont!

i actually really enjoyed this game despite the constant bad mouthing it got. i love the mythos of the castlevania series, the gameplay was actually quite good tho the camera at times would mess ya up it wasnt nearly as painful as some games ive played.
it's a little ironic since devil may cry took some ideas from castlevania sotn first.

Now I haven't played all Casltevania games, though I'm a big fan of em, but it could be that Sonia was dropped because having her as the heir of the vampire killer would've essentially killed off the Belmont clan, since by European tradition, last names are passed from father to child, not from the mother. So if Sonia had descendants, they wouldn't be Belmonts anymore, maybe by blood they would but not by name. Like I said, IDK why IGA wrote her out, but I think that may have been a reason.

Funny how 'Lament of Innocence' often got criticized for being just another DMC clone. Diehard 2D CV fans simply wouldn't be pleased, I guess. I still liked playing this PS2 'CastleVania' title. Great action-oriented gameplay that actually worked in 3D. Sweet BGM, by the way! One of my favorites in this game

Yeah, Castlevania 64 is the best 3D game from the saga. Curse of Darkness has beautiful scenarios and the best music of all time, but it's missing a bit of freedom in exploration. And yes, Anti-soul is pretty much techno. Listen to Forest of Jigramunt if you can, you won't regret it.

I'll have to check out Forest of Jigramunt. CoD is the one of the only castlevania's I have played that I don't feel I need to play. LoI was good, but I don't like that style of game. It should be more exploratory. Like the 64 version, but better (64 version was kinda lame).
Baljhet Mountains beats the vast majority of VGM including Castlevania, it's an excellent track. The best from CoD is Forest of Jigramunt, then comes Baljhet Mountains. But it's not techno. The first seconds are ethnic and the rest is just normal with harpsichord doing the melody, strings and a not so traditional percussion, but definitely not techno.
I have to disagree with you. I believe this track is the best from Lament of Innocence. While the techno feel isn't commonplace in Castlevania games, it fit this stage very well. I'm a big fan of most of the games music before this. Anti-soul Mysteries Lab is the best from LoI, then Leons Theme. Baljhet Mountains beats them both though. Out of the techno castlevania songs, those are the only 3 I like.
when i first played this stage, i just stood there listening to the music lolol it made playing the stage so awesome =D
It's not that bad, but the percussion doesn't fit in the atmosphere of a Castlevania game. This OST is poor for a Castlevania, but Lament of Innocence (Leon's Theme) is a very good song.
lol, 5 minute of Anti-Soul Mystery Lab Cool. One of my friend got pissed off after 5 seconds of beat when i got the game. My older brother was loving because he says it looked like techno.
