All I hear is "Dumb Nick, dumb Nick... full reality", sorry to the Nicks out there. Not only was this game amazing, it built detailed backstories for all of its pilots. QQQ was a scrapped robot from the future that was found by the time travelling cop Phoenix. Phoenix restored QQQ and made it his partner, and at some point he went back in time to GX's racing tournament to prevent a criminal from setting in motion a series of catastrophic events. Due to his appearance, it's believed Phoenix is actually related and a successor to Captain Falcon. Oh and probably to ensure that he is allowed in the competition, he artificially reduced his speed which means he actually has the fastest machine. As for QQQ, it's "tortured by the knowledge that some very important data lies somewhere in its AI programming... The truth of the mystery data is this: QQQ was brought from the future by Phoenix and has the necessary navigation hardware needed to traverse time. However if its AI is not repaired (thereby restoring its memory), it will never be able to return to the future." There are 41 pilots in this game.
the f-zero series is so unfairly slept on. both X and GX are some of the craziest racing experiences.
Does this sample Kraftwerk? The low voice sample seems familiar.
F-Zero had such a playful, fun take on the sci-fi genre. So much potential in the characters and setting, it's criminal Nintendo abandoned the franchise.

I would like nothing more than to take another spin in an F-Zero machine racer just one more time in a new game. Someday.
Unlocking the AX Pilots in the very hard setting of the story mode chapters is a nasty piece of work, and yet, I find QQQ one of the few "easiest" to get.
I've only unlocked a few AX Pilots in the game thus far. Pain in the ass, but very rewarding at the same time. >:)
I remember losing my absolute shit as a kid.
It's funny that QQQ is one of the easier ones to get, because I consider him to have a sub-par vehicle when compared to some of the other AX racers like PJ
I have the CD for this game. I love the f-zero series, though I’ve mostly played X.
It's unfortunate Nintendo doesnt want to make more F-zero games. Guess they sold terrible in Japan?
Neither did they sell well in the West.

Miyamoto ran out of his stupid ass gimmicks he could hammer and plague the game with. It's either have the series die... or have it become what Starfox is nowadays.
