The theme of "why am I playing this and not a relaxing game collecting random stuff". I think everyone who played this game remembers the first encounter with a Regenerator, and probably how bad it went ("I'll shoot its legs to slow it down"). Goosebumps were guaranteed whenever I'd hear this music starting to play along with their breathing noises. And then when you thought you had seen it all, you face an Iron Maiden that is basically a twitchy Regenerator with huge spikes coming out of it. Fun.

Yeah dude I remember when one night I booted up the game and tried to work through my nerves in the dark to fight this thing I had to lagit pause the game and walk it off because my heart was pounding lol I hated this fucker when I was little. I think this game did the best and balancing action gameplay with survival horror

Little story, when I was a kid playing, I managed to get very good and just blazed through the game, being very confident, cocky and saying it was too easy, especially at the island, then, the atmosphere changed, I find this very omnious lab, with the Riot Gun in hands I go further, seeing very creepy experiments, I get frightned but manage to ignore and get the key, followed by, hearing a weird noise of something falling, of the door opening, of this music playing, and, of the most horrible breath in gaming echoing, that thing approaches, I shoot it with everything, I open it with holes, take out the legs... it doesn't die... I throw every grenade, it falls to the ground, but still moves, it still attacks... I, just run away... the cocky kid, remembered a feeling deep buried, taught by another ugly monster in the previous entry, the feeling, of fear, of being powerless, of what, a true nightmare is.

Errybody remembers their first Regenerator. I killed mine with a shotgun. It was not a happy time.

RE4 has always been more action than horror, but that makes this enemy even more terrifying, because you get so used to the action. I was so scared the first time I encountered one of these. No thanks.

I had no problems with this game as a kid, but this part made me poop my pants so hard the first time... and I still feel unconfortable when I play through this area today.

What makes them creppy, for me at least, is the fact that they are slow, kinda frail looking and mostly silent. They don't jump at you screaming, they just walk towards you breathing heavily and shaking, almost falling over.

RE4 is great cuz like, for the most part, it’s a super great action game that’s always fun to go through and never really feels “stressful”. But then you get to these guys and you’re reminded for a moment you ARE playing a Resident Evil game.

You can hear him breathing just by looking at the thumbnail. Plus that random dark jail where he pops up is the worst encounter.

I try to get through this section as fast as possible. If you try to play careful, the creepiness gets to you and you become indecisive/make mistakes.

Scariest enemy in the entire franchise. Only Nemesis and the OG Re 1 Hunters come close.

Mr.X and Lickers in re2make are pretty intense for awhile, but not bad when you get used to them. Rachel in revelations is freaky too.

Hunters are shit.. what kind of bullshit scale/rating do u have in there.. Theres TONS of RE enemies that are miles scarier than hunters, take off ur nostalgia glasses next time

@heyjeySigma - Nothing shits me up more that entering a room with 2 or 3 Hunters, armed with only a shotgun, knowing I haven't saved I'm a while. The most terrifying thing about the OG Hunters was that they were actually THREATENING. Something that was severely lacking in subsequent entries.

@Robert Artois I think you are basing this on nostalgia bro.. sure i agree hunters could cut your head off at times if i remember well, but still putting them at the top? Nah.. im sure you're blinded by nostalgia. Dont. There's scarier RE enemies than hunters.. RE4 had a lot of them.. like that immortal creature in the sewers for example was terrifying or that one boss you fight in some crate boxes in a cave too later as Leon.. or remember the invisible bugs in RE4 too? They all take a big shit on measly hunters in both tension and scares .
