Not that there aren't any great new horror games, but I really miss series like Silent Hill, Fatal Frame and Dead Space. Apart from Resident Evil, we thankfully have indie games to thank for some horror representation in gaming. I do wish I had played Devotion before it got banned.

I love listening to the Silent Hill soundtracks at this time of year. Despite this, I had never actually played a SH game - until a couple of weeks ago, when I picked up SH2. The atmosphere in that apartment block is, wow... I see why people praise the series...

SH2 is widely regarded as the best in the series (and one of the best horror games ever), so that was definitely a good introduction to Silent Hill.

Yeah I did worry if I was going too deep by starting with the fan favourite! I would've started with 1, but my PS2 doesn't get on with compact discs. Whilst playing, I actually look forward to the cutscenes, so that I can hear where the music I know fits in with the storyline.

Silent Hill 3 was my first horror game, and it scared the crap out of me. I loved it. The atmosphere was incredible, and playing as a teenage girl was refreshing. While I also enjoyed the other SH games, the third one remains my favorite today.

Over time I've come to realize that I just love the first 3 Silent Hill equally for different reasons. This game definitely has my favorite soundtrack though. And it has a pink bunny.

@SupraDarky They are absolutely different in their feel in some ways. Father searches through hell and back to find his missing daughter. Man recieves letter from his dad wife and finds various disturbed people lost in the town. Hell comes directly to a teenager to threaten her. Vastly different stories and story themes, despite the similarities. It's awesome.
