Mario Kart 64 will always have the most special spot for me in this series, being young and excited for everything that was on the N64. This theme brings instant memories of my first race, Circuit was the perfect introduction track.

I can relate to this, but with the Wii version. I have fond memories of racing through Coconut Mall with my friends back when I was in elementary school. Good times :)

That thing also eludes me to this very day. I remember my childhood mind making up stuff like: "That item box is a guaranteed Star or Blue Shell regardless of position!" or "It holds the key to Peach's Castle in Royal Raceway!" I guess that's how old videogame rumors start.

@Lucas It actually was a guaranteed blue shell. You can get it by timing your hop right at the small hill in the road just before the balloon in the 2nd or 3rd lap (depending which place you were at the time and what CC difficulty you played)

the N64 was really the only console that could practically do 4 player games in that generation. I had so much fun racing my cousins in Mario Kart. I also played a lot of Goldeneye with my other friends. Thanks for the memories!

Love/loved this game growing up. First game on the N64, which my parents got me for Christmas and got to take over the TV that morning to play with everyone. Then my brother and I would play the hell out of it all the time over the years. Fun moment for us was when we decided to go for the gold trophies on both regular and mirror modes, we decided to cover for each other so when one of us got into first, the other had to play defense for the other. Hearing this certainly brings back those memories.
