I've been clearing a lot of games from my backlog this year (currently Bloodborne which is unsurprisingly amazing), and I have a feeling I'll soon get a Xenoblade itch and play XC2. I'll always remember stepping in this area and first seeing the huge waterfalls, probably the best vista in the game. I know quite a few people who didn't really like it, but I also enjoyed the thick forest with the dinosaurs moving around. One thing I didn't like is the Frontier Village, the huge tree was a pain to traverse.

I finished Xenoblade Chronicles 2 recently and its an absolute masterpiece. Imo Xenoblade Chronicles 1 is still the better one but XC2 comes oh so close.. If you loved XC1 you will love XC2.

I was gonna chime in the opposite of what recht was saying, 2 is good but its loaded with flaws left and right especially in the way it gimps exploration behind gatcha elements and that the story kind of doesnt do all it could with the setting kind of just feeling like your going to location to location without much progress or consequence past picking up party members that never really form relationships with one another. The good elements outweigh the bad for me but its definitely my least favorite xeno game granted i have yet to play the rather infamous xenosaga 2

XC2 is by far my least favorite in the series. It tries way too hard to be XC1, unlike X, which had a very distinct identity. It has more grinding, more annoying quests, the world design and environments aren't nearly as good... Still enjoyed it, though.

Tantal day theme is my favorite of the entire series(XC2). But there is so much good music to choose from in this series. A major rarity is todays world.

Xenoblade 1 is a masterpiece, and Xenoblade 2 really just doesn't have anything that made 1 so great. 2 relies so god damn much on the worst anime tropes that it just becomes painful to watch cutscenes. The fan service in particular is just really excessive and obvious that it distracts from everything else. There are so many other JRPGs you could play instead of Xenoblade 2.

I started playing XC2 with the assumption that Monolith Soft couldn't create bad games, something I really believed after playing XC and XCX (XCX has flaws when it comes to story, but basically every other element is amazing, especially its overworld and gameplay). Sadly, XC2 turned out to be more or less a retelling from XC, but with squeaky anime girls everywhere, and a lot of them. Also it comes with an extremely generic main character (Rex look almost identical to the Sword Art Online or Attack on Titan guy, but with very ugly pants). I don't think I ever had such a bad aftertaste after a game. It's not necessarily a bad game (it's probably still good), but it tries way too hard to mimic XC, and the amount of fan service was way too much for me. All I wanna say is, just because you like XC doesn't mean you'll like XC2. In order to appreciate a playthrough of XC2 you more or less need to be a hardcore anime fan who doesn't dislike fan service everywhere. In the future I'll unfortunately be very skeptical for future Monolith soft games..

I won't tell if I prefer XC or XC2 because I loved them both. Oh, and Torna too. ^^ . But there is one really thing that should get everyone to agree: all composers did a formidable job and EVERY original soundtrack is a MASTERPIECE!

I couldn't remember this theme until the little riff at 1.40 started playing. This truly is a gorgeous game, I should really finish it someday!

@VegaPhil Right? Xenoblade 2 might not have the same impressive story, but I actually found it more fun to play than Xenoblade 1 and has an equally amazing soundtrack.

Yo Supra! Have you ever played or considered the Age of Empires franchise? Especially AOE2 has an amaaazing and unique soundtrack, and a HD edition has been released on Steam some time ago.
