It is a shame this game becomes so incredibly easy if you explore the castle (I am mostly thinking about the shield rod, and the alucard items). The story is quite weird as well. Those two are its only flaw though. The atmosphere in SotN is incredible, and it really is a good game. I feel like indie games have not been able to fully capture the thick atmosphere of the SotN and/or Super Metroid. Which is a shame, since it is probably the most important aspect in a game.

This is a weird song. If you hear this without knowing the game, you would not think it fits the theme, but somehow it does. You would think its forgettable since it is not epic, does not have any scene involved with it, does not have catchy lyrics, and the melody is too complex to be something that you can hum or whistle. Yet the song is one of those you recognize instantly, and cant get out of your mind

this theme was so epic for me and my brother when we played this game. its one of the few games where i didn't mind trying to find 100 percent of the map. i even have this song on my ipod.

This is one of those games where music, gameplay and setting are all equally perfect. Its atmosphere is truly one of a kind. If Bloodstained can be as good as this, I can only imagine the critical acclaim it will get.

Strider 2014 is a good ass return to form, plus its strider!
Steam is full of them. Try Axiom Verge or Ori and the Blind Forest.
There's a secret ingredient to this game that just made it so engrossing and atmospheric. It's something I haven't really experienced in other games, truly a unique feel. As a huge fan of Metroid-likes and Metroidvanias, I can't be happier to see the resurgence of the genre (props to the Indies). I do have to say I'm glad IGA is taking his time with Bloodstained because so far, I'm only cautiously excited from what's been shown.
Yes, that last gameplay video really disappointed. Lighting didn't fit the character and the animation seemed friction-less and floaty. I mean, I would've prefered sprite graphics but I hope it gets better.
