1994... yikes! Over 20 years ago... Yet the soundtrack for Super Metroid still sounds great. Every song is memorable and inspiring. All I think of when I hear this song is the sound the plasma beam makes... along with the Plasma Space Pirates

Maridia is a pain in the butt, I like Brimstar and Norfair better
+Allan Santos But Norfair is.... no fair :P The second part of Norfair was seriously hard though, with the lava and the sheer amount of damaging enemies. That was my mantra for the rest of the game xD

I KNOW he's going to pick EarthBound and Chrono Trigger for certain. I just hope he'll put up Mother 3, since that game is like a masterpiece to me. All 4 of my predictions, in my opinion, are masterpieces, actually (Ocarina of Time has a couple of flaws keeping it from being masterpiece material, picked it because everyone's nostalgic about it and I think Supra might be too!). I hope that, if Mother 3's not its own upload, it'll be in a joint upload with EarthBound, like with Shenmue 1 and 2
Even if his opinion is not valid, it certainly does not make Yoshi's Island a casual platformer.

While I'm certainly not going to say "fuck off CoD fanboy", your statement "if a kid picked this up today he'd get bored within 5 minutes", is just as baseless and ignorant as if I did..What survey and infinite wisdom are you basing this off of?? I bet the subscribers of this channel can attest to the fact that plenty of younger users love this game. Perhaps you don't like it b/c it isn't rly a platformer... in a pure sense a platformer is linear and has "pits of death", this game has neither.
I'd say you have at least 2 of the next 3 in there, though I knew your prediction was missing this one ;) Supra has previously given this game amazingly high praise such as "one of the only games I replay on a yearly basis" and saying it's a big reason he prefers Metroid over Castlevania's another series he holds in high regard.

This song never fails to make the hair on my arms stand up. There are other games out there whose soundtracks I enjoy more, but I don't know if any of them, song for song, are as atmospheric as Super Metroid.
Although not my favorite song in the game, it definetly holds atmosphere.
I can't understand the hype over this game and earthbound, I'm not saying they're bad games, I just think everyone seems a little bit too nostalgia blind, if a kid picked this up today he'd get bored within 5 minutes, I got about 20 minutes through and it just began to feel like homework. :| don't say "fuck off cod fanboy" because I don't even like fps's. I love platformers, the snes had some great one like Yoshi's Island. I just don't get why this is so amazing.
I can't beleive how long I've been staying away from this series, I've heard so many good things about it. The next game I'm buying is definately going to be a Metroid game. Hopefully, if I remember.
Planning to buy a Wii U soon, almost purely for this game on VC.

the metroid series has some good music, i have just never found any of the games interesting
I have played some of this game and I will get back to it once I finish college. I will say that the music is so eerily atmospheric that really can send chills down my spine. This song sent chills down my spine.
Play this game by whatever means you can, people. You will not regret it.

I replayed this recently. Amazing game, quite possibly the pinnacle of old-school game design. I prefer Metroid Prime though.

I much prefer the other Maridia theme. The ending of this one always creeped me out a bit too much.
This theme is enough to make me, a 19 year old, feel intimidated.
There are some games that go beyond nostalgia. I beat this game for the first time this year and i love it.

I beat this game for the first time ever yesterday. I bought it on Wii U. Best $0,30 I ever spent.
I played this game so much that I pretty much know every known glitch and ability in the game. my record time was 32 min with 12% items.
I prefer Prime to Super, but both are amazing.
I used to hate super metroid, but some time ago I decided to play it whole with a friend. I could not be more wrong, and Metroid quickly joined my list of best Super Nintendo games. Like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night won me over on the Playstation 1, Super Metroid on the SNES won my respect. Unforgettable.
A pretty damn perfect game. My 5th favorite, in fact.
The claustrophobic environments mixed with the sense of discovering the unknown, the perfect difficulty level, the pure and fun gameplay, the great pixel work and an awesome soundtrack created a classic. Just listening to the Tourian theme makes my skin crawl, I still remember being terrified by the dozens of metroids scattered around.
This is the closest game to perfection in my book, even more than my Top 3 (which have a bigger nostalgia factor). I played this game back when it released, but it's really years later when I rediscovered it that I realized how much I liked it. I can't really find any glaring flaws. When I said Yoshi's Island is my favorite 2D platformer, that's because I don't really consider Super Metroid a platformer, just like I don't consider Metroid Prime a 3D platformer.
