You're not the only one, the Mining Facility is one of those "Ah fuck it, I can't be arsed to play this part" places for me. The second mogma dungeon/water temple have to be my favourite dungeons though.

i felt the game was lacking for most parts of it beside the soundtrack. we had plenty mountain, wood and water dungeons before. it was really only the desert part that stood out of all the areas, which i came to like the most.

I agree. My favorite dungeon is definitely the Ancient Cistern, though.

Agreed, Lanayru was the highlight of the game. I thought it was finally starting to gel only to be shunted back to that damned volcano and soporific forest twice more.

...I've run into someone whose top two Zeldas are Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, and that person considers Skyward Sword to be an abomination.

I haven't played Skyward Sword (yet), but in general it seems that those who were huge fans of every/most prior games in the series found it to be a step back while those who consider the series to have been stagnant since N64 days consider Skyward Sword to be an improvement. Like, I've run into someone who suggested that Skyward Sword is 10x better than Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, and...

Finally got around to playing Skyward Sword the past couple of weeks, beat it yesterday...certainly not a BAD game, but by the very high standards of the series, underwhelming. I have to agree that the two Lanayru dungeons were the highlight of the game, though (along with the boss fight against Koloktos).

I thought the Ancient Cistern (leaving aside that "cistern" could be considered another word for "toilet" so now I always see it as a beautifully designed toilet) was beautifully designed visually, gameplay-wise and musically. And the fire temples were OK too. None of it felt particularly disjointed to me. It just felt too empty, I'd say, having only those three largely unpopulated regions, +Skyloft.

That makes perfect sense. Never knew 3 teams worked on it. Let this be a lesson to game devs that bigger isn't always better when it comes to putting a great game together.

Agreed. The game wasn't bad but it just felt like an inconsistent experience. Although I do despise the motion controls. Hate how Nintendo 1st party hates giving multiple control options now despite easily having the ability to make all of them useable.

I didn't know the game was developed by 4 different teams... That's crazy... What happened to the 3 man teams that created sprawling worlds? I mean I understand that Games are bigger now but... C'mon... At least keep all the creative leads together so there is some consistency.

Just finished doing this dungeon a few days ago. It's easily one of the better dungeons and areas in the game, if not the best. If only the boss was as good, or for the record... made any sense.

Wow, an interesting fact I didn't know. I also enjoyed this part of the story a lot more, the most interesting definately.

Hmm, the 3 teams thing kind of explains everything! they should sack the department that did the fire area btw, can't believe how many times they let me climb the same mountain!

Best pre-dungeon area, best dungeon, and best boss. This was like the only part of the game that didn't aggravate me in some way.

When I learned that 3 separate teams worked on this game (+ some help from Monolith Soft) on each of the 3 main areas, I wasn't surprised. It explains why the game felt so disjointed for a Zelda game. The team that worked on the Lanayru Desert was by far the best, it's the only area I found extremely solid. Plus it has 2 of my 3 favorite dungeons (Sandship and Lanayru Mining Facility). The whole timestone concept was a big highlight.
