I love this game so much. One of few SNES era games that I finished. The music was fun and entertaining, and the game itself had a carefree feel to it. Even if some parts were rather difficult.

I have no clue why, but whenever I hear this, despite having grown up with this game, I still just have this children's pop song vibe. I think it fits though, since Yoshi's Island is a rather childlike (in the best possible way) game.

Didn't play this game until I got it for my GBA back in 04. Amazing game with amazing music. One of the most under appreciated games in the entire Nintendo library.

Actually a super smash bros stage based on this level would be pretty badass, fuzzies could randomly float by the stage and the player who runs into it gets FUZZY controls, or the whole stage could get just get crazy for all the players.

Ah, I remember this. I love this level. Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy. The title of the level had a simple, but effective warning. Despite this, I touched the fuzzies just to see Yoshi stagger around like a drunken lizard. I didn't know it back then, but the behavior and color changing Yoshi experiences when touching Fuzzies is actually just an acid trip. And that, children, is why scientists are trying to turn dandelion spores into flying drugs.

I dunno, there's just something about working within the limits of those old consoles that can't be replicated, haha. That's how most of this music became so well known and damn catchy.
well, while i think the old 16 era DID have better games, i bet when the 8 year olds of today are 18-20ish like us, they'll start saying that the new games weren't like halo and the bunch
also older games had far more levels and far fewer cutscenes. that's one of the reasons they were so "magical". they just let you drowned yourself in the world through the gameplay, not the cutscenes.

I agree, for a while i was convinced that it was nostalgia alone that made me like my childhood games more, but it's not the case. i bought a snes a few months ago and played some of the old games (mainly earthbound, yoshi's island, chrono trigger, etc), and they really are better. maybe it's because back then they knew the graphics they had were the best they could come up with, so they decided to make games with real content instead of pretty images.

that and the game was awesome even without nostalgic value. sublime controls, great gameplay, Fighting a giant potted plant. and perhaps the most epic final boss ever.

Well, suffice it to say, Nintendo's never been big on continuity. At the same time, remember that the cartoon was an American cartoon. Nintendo really didn't have much to do with it. Finally, if you want to get REALLY picky. Aren't Mario and Luigi supposed to have grown up in Brooklyn?

I don't get it. In the cartoon super mario world, Luigi hatches Yoshi's egg. And in the original Super Mario World, Yoshi just meets Mario. Yet, Yoshi helps Mario when he's a baby??? I don't get it.

It's a prequel. A stork is delivering Baby Mario and Baby Luigi to their parents, but are interrupted by Kamek, Baby Bowser's err...babysitter, so to speak. Baby Luigi is kidnapped and the Yoshies find Baby Mario abandoned on the island. They journey to reunite the babies with their parents.

well actually, you can download a snes emulator like snesx for your computer and then download the smw2 rom and play it right on your computer.

One of the BEST, most memorable and happy game soundtracks of ALL TIME. There is something about these songs and the way they were implemented and melted together with those Yoshi's Island levels that were really one of a kind. Nintendo is GENIUS.

I thought I was the only person that felt this way. My friends always asked me why not get an emulator for the nintendo/super nintendo games, and I will always replay It's not the same thing! Spending hours in front of my t.v. over the summer with no worries can never be replaced with an emulator on a computer! Too much nostaliga being infront of that tube.
