tp was not my first zelda game ive played it was the first game ive ended. i played it 7 times 5 times with a good friend then. my first zelda game was ocarina of time. i was 3 when i started playing it. i was in the 3rd dungeon when i discovered the wide backflip glitch with a bomb. i showed it my brother and he was just looking with wide eyes. remember i was 3 years old. i coulnt defeat ganon so i stopped playing and started other zelda games. alttp, majoras mask, minish cap, the ds games. on every game i couldnt defeat the final boss. but on tp i had fear on the final boss. i was 6 when i played it with my friend. she was completely cool and i had fear. first phase was easy 2nd phase we died one time 3rd phase we took 1 hour. final phase. i beat ganondorf first try. we saw the staff credits and we were cheering. after the boss we started the game new. every run we played we wanted to collect more heartpieces and the other stuff. and on one run we had 100%. when we killed ganon we were crying because we had done it. we finally done it on the 5ft run. then we started playing skyward sword. and there was the same game. first run we wanted to defeat the final boss and then we wanted to collect more more but we coulnt get 100% and we had the bug wirth the 3 dragons. we went first to ranelle and this broke the game. so we had to start again.. i know we were so close to throw the wii out of the window. but er havent doen it. xD zelda was my childhood im 15 now soon turning 16 and i cant wait for the next zelda game. botw was a different zelda game but it was amazing and with a frind we had a one week challenge. who had more % and the end of the week won. ganon had to beaten as well. omg this is a long story of my life xD
Your favorite games are not always the best, but those who touch your soul, those who left you with the best memories and define what you expect from future games. I'm much older than you and yet i can relate to your story ^^ i remember playing a link to the past and oracle of seasons, without knowing how to read, and only progressing by luck or random exploration x) Years later i played twilight princess, even if i wasn't a little boy anymore, the ending crushed me emotionally me like no other game before. You shared that wonderful experience with a friend, and to be honest i'm a little jealous ^^

well a long time ago in like 2003 or 4, they showed a trailer for this game. And this song got the name when the game came out. It's in reference to Midna being kicked out of the twilight realm

That's not correct, Kondo-san wrote Zelda's Lullaby which is referenced in it, but the rest of the composition and arrangement were Oshima-san. Kondo-san wasn't heavily involved in Twilight Princess.

@dave rdz Well, Ocarina only came out two years before I was born. So it's not THAT old. TP was my first one and it's all thanks to the fact that my Dad saw it in stores and remembered playing the original on the NES. He decided to see how far it'd come. =)

@dave rdz Yeah, on topic of the Game Boy, I got mine back in 2005 with Pokémon Blue Version and I thought that it was the coolest thing. Meanwhile, everyone else had the new Nintendo DS and I had no idea what it even was. The first video game consoles I ever had was the N64 (it was my Mom's) though it only had a Star Wars racing game. I also had the NES, which was my Dad's. It had Mario 1-3, Zelda 1-2 (he had two copies of the first one), Metroid, Kid Icarus, Mega Man 1-3, and a whole bunch of other games collectors would die for. But really, I only ever played our PC (we had Warcraft and Civilizations (as well as Blues Clues and Winnie the Pooh learning games XD)) and my Game Boy.

My very first Zelda game was Twilight Princess as well :D Before I played this amazing game, I barely liked the Zelda series. I just bought it in Toys'R'Us without even thinking about it because i wanted to impress my friends. xD

I think Ocarina of Time came out the year I was born. I had it and Majora's mask when I was three, and then Twilight Princess became my third Zelda game as well as the first one I actually beat. Funny story. Around the time Twilight Princess came out, I went on Gamespot.com and saw a trailer for Link's Awakening and thought it was new.

Im sorry Linkmariozelda. Did you just say the vita had a better launch than the N64? I have friends who own both and one of them bought a Vita and hasn't gotten a single game for it. The only games he has are in a hacked app with all the portable Kingdom Hearts games that one of his friends made. He also has an N64 and its launch had the ledendary Super Mario 64. Someone name one good game released in english on the Vita!

I love the way Nintendo knows it's limitations and still manages to put out stuff that keeps me picking them over almost every other company. Nintendo, you and your sly business strategies...
Speaking of which, I just realized that the last three consoles to have "killer apps" right at launch were the Wii, Xbox, and N64, all three of which were oft-considered to be weak systems in the long run. Meanwhile, stuff like the Xbox 360 and all three Sony consoles didn't have such a game at launch but ultimately became more fondly remembered. At least Sony launched the PS Vita with Uncharted.
The stupid thing is that even though Twilight Princess was dated from a technical perspective the moment it was released, it's still a gorgeous-looking and -sounding game due to its awesome art direction. This game could quite possibly be the last true killer app launch title for a console, and even then it wasn't originally supposed to be that.

@dddddd4236 That's exactly what made it so real. A real environment from a time that would have stuff like swords and castles wouldn't have a ton of bright pageantry unless they held a festival in Hyrule Town. Kakariko was a desert cliff village. There were other colors, but only where they were appropriate - like in the Water Temple and Death Mountain or whatever. But I'm not one of those people who can't have anyone disagree with me, so no need to apologize. :)

I like how Link's intercepting that massive mace with one hand. This Link is definitely the strongest without power bracelets.
He's the naturally strongest link, an expert mount fighter, marksman, and sword fighter, but he doesn't have the best selection of items, at least compared to the chosen hero of skyward sword.
@OldBoyBobbery don't listen to him double clawshot are evn more useful than in tp, you'll find yourself using them alot more. in tp you already had clawshot and they had a nice but not game changer upgrade. while in SS you start right off with double clawshot which will give you alot of back-racking to previous places.
@balltavorb yes we do because you need a minimum of challenge. you should play and worry of not dying. if you can run and be careless and still survive this is ridiculous... and about the items using an item mostly in it's temple is pretty simple minded. whats even worst every single tp boss where obvious = use the item found in dungeon to deafeat them. thats was single layered boss tactic which sucked.
@balltavorb not true the double clawshot was almost useless in tp because you already had a clawshot, so the new option that came with it where limited. whereas in skyward sword it is your 1st item of that genre and enabled yu to access alot more area compared to tp. aside last temple and hyrule castle tp didn't really reused the double-clawshot.
@OldBoyBobbery shit, well I'm sorry if I spoiled that for you or anyone else, at least it wasn't story related. It does get a good amount of use though. And to be honest, you have a good point. As much as I love Twilight Princess, the bosses were pretty disappointing (in terms of difficulty). That's the one flaw in the game I can agree on. But I was talking specifically about the difficulty of the puzzles
@balltavorb I care about the difficulty,I love Twilight Princess,it was my first Zelda game,but the only reason I didn't think it was a perfect game it's because it's way too easy. Most of the bosses were fun,but it's unfortunate that their majestic and menacing presence is wasted because they are really easy to beat. And yes,the Double Clawshots are cool :P I haven't finished Skyward Sword,i'm almost in the way to the third trial,but it's unfortunate to hear it doesn't get much use
@Atstyle and you can't deny the awesomeness that is the double clawshot, which is FAR more useful in Twilight Princess than Skyward Sword
@Atstyle early Zelda games were hard to be sure, but I'm saying with Zelda it's not about the difficulty, it's about the story and the adventure. Nobody cares if a Zelda game is easier than others. And I can't admit it had shitty replay value because I obviously don't believe it did, as I've played through it many times and still am not sick of it. All the items were reused multiple times after their respective temples
@balltavorb also items in tp were useless and mostly had 1 single task and were forgotten after the temple was done... so how can you not admit tp had shitty replay value?? And since when where zeldas game not challenging? have you played the early zelda? From zelda1 to zelda 4, they were all hard.
@balltavorb still it depends hourglass had fee roaming in the seas and kind of like wind waker, while tp is still from point ato b without much possibilities in between.

@Atstyle well, as for the no replay value, well I've beaten it about six times. Not really sure what you mean by "linear", but yeah it did seem to have a little less caves and overall exploration. And there are easier Zelda games to be sure, like Wind Waker, but difficulty should never be a factor for Zelda. And I'm playing Skyward Sword right now, and I love it. I don't know, if you don't like it, fine, but I thought this game was amazing
@balltavorb what was so amazing except it's length and story? nothing else... it's was the easiest zelda game, the zelda game wit the least replay value, also itwas extremely linear for a zelda game(which is very bad). ALSO the game felt empty, no real purpose of playing aside of the main quest. you had huge map but empty world not alot of caves and secret place. exploration wasn't as multilayered as some previous zelda game. heck play skyward sword and you'll get it... that one was a good one.

I listened to this so many times while watching the trailer. It hyped me up for a game that turned out to be rather mediocre, from a gameplay and music perspective. The graphics were the star of the game, really. I don't remember being stumped by anything, in fact.
Twilight Princess didn't have very many memorable songs. Over all the game's music was somewhat half hearted.

@austinthebookworm5 Yeah, I agree that it had great moments. The problem is that it really shows how it's pieced together from different phases of development, with ideas and mechanics being introduced and then abandoned. It's piecemeal and doesn't gel as a whole.
It's a shame how the game itself didn't capture the adventurous tone of this.

@plasmix If you let the intro screen keep playing after wolf-Link poses on the cliff with the logo, eventually that scene will fade and another video/trailer thing will play with this music. :)
@Jeff1N I've played a little of it, the reason why it's memorable is because it's a side scroller compared to every other 2D iteration.

@Jeff1N it did not do too much for the series and just on opinion i will say that i found it kind of boring with the exception to the hidden village. Zelda 2 was hard, but i enjoyed their attempt at making a rpg out of the series it just came too soon.

Time for a STATS UPDATE: Twilight Princess is currently tied for second most songs on this list from a Zelda game with 5. It's fellow Zelda tie-buddies are Link to the Past and Wind Waker. An awesome orchestral piece which was disappointingly barely used in the game, only in a little movie. If anything, it makes the wait for Skyward Sword and its orchestral music even harder.
