This didn't even used the Genesis full potential! One of the sound chips is idle the entire time, and there are no samples whatsoever. I'm not bashing the soundtrack, the compositions are superb... yet this could've sounded much better, if Konami have putted a bit more effort into the game. Rocket Knight Adventures and Contra Hard Corps, are with much more richer sound.
Almost every one, after the first wave of games (around 1990), make use of the PSG chip in one way or another.. With the notable exception of the work of Jesper Kyd.
I don't think this soundtrack was produced by original Mega Drive's (or Genesis') Yahama soundchip, the original one sounds more funky.
You say that, but Reincarnated Soul exists.
The best part (for me) is 0:47.

@shenloken2 The sound the Mega Drive's sound chip makes really works with the style of Castlevania music. Pure excellence.
This is still among the Genesis's best use of their sound chip capability. It's further proof that among the best things in Castlevania it is always its music.
I love this track. You can't help but get amped and ready to kick ass. I like the PoR version and how it expanded on the original. In the end tho, still prefer this version.
This is probably the BEST song in the game, the other one that ties with it in my opinion being Sinking Old Sancturary.

The original is still the most awesome. Portrait's and Judgment's were awesome in their own way, but it still doesn't compare.

@Gaiden14 While Lecarde may be easier, i think calling this an "easy" game will confuse people lol... this game is still quite difficult no matter which character you use.... you will die hundreds of times and have to continue plenty. However, it's an amazing game and you'll love the gameplay/music the entire time ;)
this is my 2nd favorite castlevania theme. it's a shame it's pretty overlooked.

This game was Yamane's Castlevania debut. I always go with John Morris since I prefer the classic whip over the lance. I'm still waiting for the next handheld (probably 3DS) Castlevania from IGA. That and Lords of Shadow's DLC content which should be coming out soon.
