God.. at one point i OWNED a copy of that cartridge..... LOVED this game....... I thought it was so awesome how it was gold.. even if i didn't understand the game...
@justenleonas I no longer have a working nintendo (a broken one yes) but i still have my copy of this game. I play through it on the Wii or my 3ds at least once a year. As much as i still love zelda, the original (and the sequel) held such a promise of more to me. I was young so my imagination filled in the gaps with the help of the animations in the instruction book. Zelda wasnt cutesy back then....a lot of wonder on where they could have gone with that series.

I don't have the words necessary to describe my love for this game (and the rest of the series). Every time I pick it up I force myself to play through the original quest before trying the second quest. I always seem to get distracted by other games before I can manage to get through the second quest though. Maybe I'll take another crack at it :)
The closest thing to a modern Zelda is Dark Souls.

But when I hear them talking about the gamethey talk what levels they have done, the weapons they have... Luckily, there is someone that has stopped with it cause he found it timewaste. Karel is his name. Now I do write it I think, that if Karel would hear about what good games are, he would play them. Karel even said that when he would have a playstation 3, he would be enslaved at it.

have the Gold cartridge for the Nes, have the Nintendo classic for GBA, have it as a bundle from wind waker on my game cube. i also have on my wii from via virtual console.if it comes out for the 3ds i might just get it on there also. the funny thing is , each system i played on i found something new that i missed in my previous years of playing. NO GUIDES for this game. this game is one that has and will continue to withstand the tides of time!

its epic.the most addicting game in my fucking life.my "friend" always did shit with the nintendo when i was playing zelda.like i was in the other world and this non sense bitch threw his sandals on the nintendo and when i restarted it my save disapeared.then i starded to run after him to give back the sandals hahaha.it happened lots of times.good times :)

@SupraDarky Wow, this comment echoes my situation so much. When I was about 3 or 4 I'd always beg my older brother to sit down and play so I could watch. I was too young to really have any clue about what I was doing, but I still loved that game and used to make believe I was Link on the playground at pre-school. Good times :)

Easily the best video game series in existence. When people ask me why I'm a Nintendo fan boy, "The Legend of Zelda" is my reply. In all its long years, it's done so much, advanced so far, and touched so many. The Ocarina of Time basically created the concept of real 3D RPG gaming. My life would seriously not be the same without ever having this.
Adventuring as we know it would be dead without LoZ.

I never played the original NES game until I finally got the GameBoy Advance remake of the NES collections. Loved the game, and I could finally see why even as far back as the NES days that this game was held as a classic.
I remember many a sleepless night playing the secret 2nd quest of this game

NES Zelda, I've seen a Link To The Past one even though I don't think they made them, Ocarina Of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, every Zelda game is always dressed in gold. Almost like a sign "Hey, you can relax, this gold symbolizes the quality of the game." It's almost a requirement for any console Zelda to be gold in order to be memorable I suppose.

I remember how I was like the first day discovering this series a few years ago..I died 46 times during the first two days but beat the first three dungeons. :D
My first zelda game was link to the past for the game boy advance. But sadly I lost it and I haven't even finish the game.
Damn. My first Zelda title was Ocarina of Time back in 1998. I've played all the older titles that came before and all I can ask is that the series keeps the quality coming!

This is probably my favorite series. I was born not long after this game came out, the same year. This is a very iconic VGM which could easily be an x00 entry in the list. I still remember watching my brother play this game when I was about 3 years old. I remember him getting stuck a couple times looking for dungeons and actually burning every single tree in the overworld with the lantern.
