For some odd reason I've never played a Dragon Quest game. Are these games disconnected from each other like Final Fantasy? If so, which one is the best to start with? I really want to get into the series.
They're pretty much disconnected. Although with that being said, Dragon Quest 1, 2, and 3 are on the same timeline (1 takes place 100 years after 3, 2 takes place 100 years after 1). I'd recommend starting with the SFC remake of Dragon Quest III (there's a great English translation available). DQIII truly entails what Dragon Quest is all about. Many people would also recommend starting with Dragon Quest VIII on PS2.

I'm going to be getting Dragon Quest VI on the DS. I love the Dragon Quest series, so I honestly can't wait to play this one. :D
@NeverKnowsBests You mean for DQ5 DS? The online price was very high. I ended up being very lucky anyways since I found it in a bargain bin at a Best Buy for 10 dollars, it was like discovering a treasure in a pile of garbage.

I never played DQVI but this is some good track.
@Sephiko If you have to choose, get DQVI and Radiant Historia, the other games will be easy to find in stores for a long time to come, while these two might become harder to find and the prices will get jacked up.
Lots of games are coming out lately, so I'm having trouble deciding. This, Tactics Ogre PSP, Radiant Historia, Pokemon B/W, Dissidia 2, and so on...

I made the mistake of waiting months before buying Dragon Quest V DS, it took me a long time to finally find it in stores around where I live. I'm not making the same mistake with this game so I bought it today. I actually finished the SNES version for the first time a year ago so I'll wait a bit before tackling it. I'm still putting hours and hours on DQIX anyways, so it can wait.
