I don't know why this song reminds me to the intro of "Shine on your crazy diamonds" by Pink Floyd,it's curious, but i really love this game, it's not so scary like the firsts games, but has a unique feeling.

@SupraDarky Wish it felt more like a horror game. I also wish it were about shooting zombies cuz the enemies were too fast and too smart but the control of the game was limited so they had to make the enemies run at you and then stop in front of you so you can actually aim. It really broke me out of the experience. People say it was one of the best games ever made but that really broke it for me. Maybe if it had lockon targeting that you can finetune like 007 everything or nothing.
@SupraDarky Well Resident Evil 4 is so far the only game from this series (in fact, the only M-rated game) that I've ever beaten, and the game generally seems to be about placing the player into seemingly impossible situations than about outright scares - I didn't find RE4 to be much more scary than, say, Super Metroid. The Ada Wong levels were especially egregious in regards to RE4 as a "horror survival" game. Still, this is easily one of my all-time favorites.
Does anyone else hear parts from the first song that plays in the hall in the first Devil May Cry in this song? i do.
This song still frightened me. I think RE4 still had horror elements that RE5 didn't have. Those dogs still irk me.
@EasilyCharmed honestly, dead space 1 & 2 have nothing on this game imo. to me it's still the best horror themed game and one of the best games of all time.

this game had its share of scary stuff. who doesn't freak out when dr. salvador comes running? then there's the claustrophobic fight with mendez, which had extraordinarily creepy music. and the regenerator is IMO the singe scariest monster made for an RE game. sure, it's not as scary as something like silent hill 2, but i find it more effective at being scary than the original resident evil ever was.

This game was/is perfect in my opinion. I loved it so much simply because it distanced itself away from it's predecessors that were just downright terrible (especially ones like File Outbreak #2).

RE4 is one of my favorite games of all time, it's just such an entertaining, atmospheric game. It got me into the series and I love the older games but I still love 4 the most. And it still had horror elements. I always dreaded hearing the sound of a revving chainsaw or the roars of the blind claw Ganados, the claustrophobic fear of fighting Verdugo and It, and not to mention the Regenerators...
Still perfect in my mind. Idt I'd change anything about it tbh :)
I thought RE4 was one of the best games ever made. RE5 should've been more like this. It could be more horror but it's still a 10 to me.
"serenity" huh? more like "haunting". thinking of RE4 always reminds me of Regenerators. Now those were scary! I've tried playing RE1 and 0, but they didn't hold my attention as much as RE4 and 5.
I love this song; I really like all the ambient-style music from RE4. I found this game perfect; but it wasn't terribly scary.

I find this game really lacked the spookiness of the past RE titles. I argued this to death with a friend of mine. I remember seeing the version they had intended to put out in the haunted house style and thought it would of been way cooler. Now it seems to have gone deeper and deeper into that action genre.
One of the many great songs this game has! Don't forget that Albert Wesker's Mercenary theme kicks ass, too!
@SupraDarky RE4 had an excellent mix of horror and action imo. RE5 was unfortunately only an action game with horror aspects.. not a true horror game. But, I greatly loved both RE 4 & 5. Haven't played the earlier RE's, the camera angles bother me like crazy.
@SupraDarky RE4 had a lot of action but definitely the base was horror, unlike RE5 ; Shinji Mikami really nailled those "OMG wtf horror!!" moments that just feel like an old RE game. Besides RE 4 had a lot of horror vivid imagery, all the bosses transformations and enemies where sheer terrifying. Instead, RE 5 was a copy paste from RE 4; there is no really amazing game design or enemy design, level design, or any design at all. It´s blantant at it´s best when you compare it to RE4.
I like the switch to action over horror. Yes there are still terrifying moments and I still find myself turning off the game because of shock. But I like feeling like I destroy zombies.

Alright, not nearly as good as old school Resident Evil themes in save rooms/menus. Oh, and hard to believe that the will soon be 6 years old... where's the time ? :'(
I think RE 4 was a fresh change to the series and I enjoyed it very much but if I have to choose I prefer the old RE games. Those games have this whole survival/zombie feel to it which is missing from RE5. RE5 feels just like some 3rd person shooter but not like a RE game anymore.

This is one of my favourite games of all time, I thought it was perfect. The sewer boss still freaks me out, and those regenerators man..you know what, I'm getting my Gamecube out.
@SupraDarky Very good choise. And I too think the same. The older games were just much scarier. The newer ones are filled the action, but I would like to experience again the old horror like it was.
Isn't it ironic how the slow zombies in past games are creepier than the fast ones in RE4?

Resident Evil 4 (Biohazard 4) is one of the best games ever. I got all the unlockable weapons,I played it a lot. Resident Evil 5 is a good action game
@SupraDarky If they had found some way to incorporate the original concept for game with the re-imagined, it could've been scarier. It's still a really great game, nonetheless. It's dramatically different from what they released lol.
ahh Cant wait till New years eve/day a group of friends are popping round and we're gonna be playing some classic games the REmake and this are definetly on my 'to do' list then. Should be fun to play some memories XD
@SupraDarky Definitely preferred this game over the older Resis. I never felt them survival horror as such, since a lot of the enemies could just be ran around... Plus I hated seeing trained military special tasks operatives unable to aim a gun at the head where as some girly haired cop IS capable of doing so.
@SupraDarky i personally like the action-style of this game. more than all the resident evil games before that. much of the horror in the "classic" resident evil games comes from the difficulty, which is archieved by control restrictions (compared to RE4 at least). the freedom of control in RE4 makes it easier, thus much less scary. but damn, its good. i havent played RE5 yet but from what i have seen it's not very good at all
Resident Evil should go back to Survival Horror. That's what made it scary, you had limited ammunition and health items, that coupled with your very limited inventory is what added to the tension and the fear. 4 and 5 made me feel too powerful like if a horde of enemies was coming at me it may be a bit of a challenge but never scary or actually hard. All it took in RE1 was just 2 or even 1 zombie and you were shitting yourself.
No, this game had the right balance. The first encounter with the Chainsaw Ganado, going into the isolated barn only to be ambushed by Chief Mendez, shooting at the fish before your fight with Del Lago only to be swallowed whole like Samuel L. Jackson in Deep Blue Sea, fighting Garrador (guy with big claws), and then that damn Regenerator... Need I go on?
I really liked RE5, but RE4 is FAR better. RE5 felt like it was made for Co-Op, while RE4 delivered a great Single Player campaign. As for RE4 being a Horror game, I think it had scary stuff...it wasn't a Silent Hill or Fatal Frame...but it had moments. I consider it Survival Horror.
While it was the first RE game I played I found parts to be scary at times and I think it kept the scary atmosphere well enough to stay classified as a horror game to a minor degree: cloaked bugs, hounds in the castle maze, Regenerators...but the place, Racoon City and everything just meshed together perfectly.
I've loved this for so long, good to see it up here. RE4 is also one of the best games of this decade if I may say.
For some reason this song scares the crap out of me then any resident evil 4 scene weird...
When I saw the thumbnail I thought "Let it be Serenity!" You didn't disappoint. I love just chilling with the Merchant to this music, especially in that kickass hideout he has near the lake.

Easy answer: People who love these games don't allow themselves to get scared. They choose to make it boring.

I thought this game was a decent balance of horror and action. However, RE5 went in the wrong direction by making the series practically all action and no horror. Dead Space went in the right direction by improving the over-the-shoulder controls, movement, and making you systematically dismember your enemies instead of just running in like a tank, guns blazing like in RE5. Plus it was still scary and had some messed up, WTF scenes like Silent Hill.
Least favorite Resident Evil game, favorite game of all time. If that makes sense.
I absolutely love all the RE games, excluding the Wii-railshooters. I like to appreciate them as seperate games instead of comparing them to each other, that way i can still enjoy RE4 _and_ Five for their own seperate traits. No point in arguing over wich is better as they're all good in their own ways. But if you would put a gun to my head i would probably choose the horror oriantated games over the action ones. I apologize for the enormous read.

Sure at first ... when it came out no one thought it was scary everyone went "OMG They ruined the series its not scary anymore" but when you think about it, this game had one hell of an atmosphere and creepy moments compared to RE5. For example in the big castle around Chapter 3 you can here the enemies mumbling weird stuff "Moere moere moere moere more"
The visual spookiness is what did it for me in this game. RE4 was so dark and cloudy where RE5 was bright and vibrant. The atmosphere wasn't set for horror in 5 like it was in 4. Half of the scared in the original RE's were from the camera angles and not knowing what was around the corner. RE4 scared with tense atmosphere than quick jump moments. All RE's are great though. If I had to choose though I'd say this one takes the cake.

yea in RE5, i felt powerful. RE4 made me feel more scared though with its episodes of horror.(like the bush maze, or army island). But RE4 had my favorite control scheme of all RE's ^^. Alas i do agree that it wasnt as terrifying as the first ^^....im rambling.... Horror is better!

This is a very short and ambient song, but I find it represents the game's great atmosphere very well. There was something about this game that was simply missing in RE5. This is a weird game for me, I absolutely love it but in the back of my mind I wonder how it could have been had it focused more on its horror roots and less on the action. What do you guys think, better like this or you wish it felt more like a horror game?
