A very emotionally compelling game with a stellar sound track. NIER was one of the more interesting gaming experiences during the last console generation.

From what I recall, the "language" used in the game soundtracks isn't a real language at all. The composers thought to make a soundtrack that truly focused on vocal performance, and eliminated the concept of trying to understand the lyrics from the equation. From what I recall, the pseudo-language is composed of Japanese, English, German, French. Basically, you don't need to think about what you're listening to at all. Just listen to the music ;)

Yeah lol this game was panned by "critics" but people loved it, i bought the game after hearing this song lol, look forward to play it soon.

I remember when I got this game for 12$ at a nearby GameStop. The guy who sold it to me thought I was crazy for buying it - it wasn't reviewed too well but FUCK them; The storyline and OST are amazing! Good characters, funny dialogue, REAL emotion? If you can ever find this game try it.

To the people who did not like this part of the game at Facade I say this: At first I thought them to be creative nuisances but then I remembered what Fyra had said when she asked about the rules of Facade to the King. She was told, "rules do not exist to bind you, they exist so you may know your freedoms" When you apply that logic to that dungeon, everything makes sense and you will have a greater appreciate for it. The realization is mind blowing. Truly my favorite part of the game.

the game play might not be the best but the story is good keeps you in it and the soundtrack is eargasmic !

The Game = 4.0 SoundTrack = 1000.0 I Just put Easy and start to play... The level of this music is so dumb with ridicolous and nonsense pluzzes. I Tried to play it in Hard but the boss battles takes almost 30min to finish... Evade and Defend should be the same Button... I only use DarkHand... and a lot of other glitches and things.

@SupraDarky trust me dude you can't do anything wrong by buying this game :3 its a very decent action-rpg if not one of the best i've ever played (and i've played alot) the game got mainly bad reviews bcs of the 'bad' graphics i mean ok it can't stand up to the current next-gen standarts but the graphics are still qutie appealing

beautiful song, my favorite in the game also liked the song in the mansion basement area: 'ultimate weapon' I think got all 4 endings in this game please make sure you see ending 'D' last very awesome story and memorable characters I look forward to more games like this and also perhaps a sequel

Wow, this just rents at your heart. I really gotta try this game out. I wad hesitant cause it got low reviews but I'm going to give it a look. Even if it's not a good story and mechanics, I'd play just to hear tracks like this.

This reminds me a little bit of the "GITS" intro song "Inner Universe" which is by far one of the most superior tracks there could be. If you don't like this then you probably dont really understand what music really is. This is awesome.

I agree with everyone else who likes this game, I also highly recommend it. The story is excellent, along with the soundtrack and the gameplay is quite varied. It's easily one of my favourite games of 2010.

This post made me finally rent NieR, even after reading the mediocre reviews. My expectations were low, but man...was I ever blow away. Sure, their is a lot of fetch quests...but NieR is aesthetically delightful. I dove head-first into the story, and find myself bobbing and weaving in an almost melancholic manner to the music. NieR is one of my favorite games, and I hope it gets a sequel. Perhaps if they please the critics with better game mechanics, it'll get the credit it deserves.

DON'T LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS! I can say this'll be a game that'll make you understand, some games are for gamers, and some games are for Game lovers. This clearly is the second type, and occasional the first type, but mostly the second. IT IS WORTH IT! Trust me.

Reviewers generally don't know jack and rate games based on how much new stuff they do and the technical aspects. Example, many people have turned up disappointed with latest CoD, yet reviewers still seem to give it 9/10-10/10. 3D Dot Game Heroes reviewers said was about a 7/10, when it was definitely closer to a 8.5-9/10 according to players(including myself). Only time to notice reviews is when EVERY reviewer says a game is a 3/10 or lower.

I really enjoyed this game. It actually had great characters and an interesting(if a little strange) story. The music really stood out though. The soundtrack was very unique and different songs got stuck in my head as I played it. Plus, this is the only game I know of in which you can DRIFT ON A BOAR.

I definitely agree with how great Nier really is. It is a damn shame how people disregard it, but it delivers on many fronts. Honestly, it's the true sleeper hit of 2010.

I watched a friend play this, and it was amazing to watch. It looked very good. I normally don't like vocal tracks either, but this game pulled it off perfectly. I'd buy the soundtrack too if I wasn't cheap. Unfortunately, I still haven't picked it up yet. I'll have to do that soon. I feel like I could spend a good amount of time playing this.
