It's still one of the more popular tracks of the entire DK series. How though? DK doesn't have a weird spin attack nor does he have a bunch of different death animations. I don't see how DKCR resembles Crash specifically. And I only 100% DKC1. Never played through a whole Crash game, though I know enough to say they aren't like DKCR besides being platformers with funny animals.

No. Like I said 2 months ago, that is highly debatable. I listed some of the best songs too. Though if you don't like them, that's fine. Some folks think Stickerbrush Symphony is overrated too. Don't get your Crash comment though. Besides waggle, what was the issue with DKCR that made it not like the other DKC games?

That's too true. Plus, it'd make sense in DKC Returns, because that game is MAD hard. One of the toughest games I've played in a while.

That's highly debatable. Stuff like Sloppy Sands, Tidal Terror, Savory Stu, Feather Fiend, Hot Rocket 1 and 2, Furious Fire, and Tiki Tong Terror not only set the mood of their stages, but are among the best of any DKC game.
I'm sure the programmers of rare look at this and think what type of games they produce now. A whole company ruined just for the money

But you are wrong there. K Rool and the rest of the Kremlings appeared in post Rare video games. Donkey Konga DK: King of Swing Donkey Kong Barrel Blast And I haven't even counted the spin-off Nintendo games like Mario Super Sluggers and Smash Bros. Brawl. The Kremlings ARE owned by Nintendo. They just didn't want to use them in Returns.
I believe a big part of this is licensing - You'll notice that Kremlings and K.Rool are gone from the DK games after Rare went to Microsoft. A pity, as the Kremlings were quite memorable compared to the today's Tikis

For me DKCR was a huge disappointment : No Kremlings, No Zingers, No Funky Kong, No K.Rool (Practically the Bowser of DKC), No Amazing (original) Tracks and most importantly NO CRANKY !
Oh, memories :D Where playing this game with my brother and other neighborhood kids when I was little. Never gonna forget that time :3

The only problem was the total lie on the box. It wasn't 3-D in any way, shape or form if pre-rendered doesn't count! But... lie aside it was so awesome, so no one cared it wasn't 3-D. They thought it was 3D just because of how blown away they were by it's awesomeness. There's no way Donkey Kong could appear in games now had it not been for this reinvention of him!
I really liked Donkey Kong Country Returns's rendition of this theme, but it doesn't feel as nostalgic as the original. Best game on the SNES (IMO)

@sora8711 It is pretty much that, you are spot on. I also think that there is this idea for younger kids that they are being more "adult" if they play games aimed at older teens and adults.
@SupraDarky The themes of the first area are almost all remixes of DKC1 music. I only got about halfway through the second area (my friend got it) but so far it's pretty good.

@sora8711 I disagree, plenty of kids would play these games if offered, and besides it's not like a lot of modern games aren't better than old ones. Heck, gameplay wise Donky Kong Country was fairly lacking, ironically it's main pro is the beautiful graphics. And ya know, the music.
Good old times back in the mid 90's and I remember DKC1 was the first one I played, but the sad part is that DKCR is nothing like the SNES DKC series. I mean is not the same person that did DKC series for for Snes and I mean the music is alright in DKCR for the WII. It could've been better and I wish they brought Wise and Fischer for DKCR.

@pelletier1986 peace man, what your doing is great. I find that if you give a kid a fond memory of an old game, they will return to it in later life, and realise that old games rock loads. I mean i first played mario 64 back in 2000 when i was 5, that got me into nintendo, which in turn (due to their extensive history) got me into retro gaming, and now i can appreciate a game reguardless of it age :D so keep it up!
@sora8711 It really depends on if you want to base a majority onto a minority, i mean i dont know which age group you mean when you refer to the said group as "kids" but there are young adults out there who love old games. Im only 15, but i can appreciatea game if it came out yesterday on the ps3, or in 1983 on the zx spectrum, personly im underwhelmed by the shooter genre as a whole, with the biggest exection being timesplitters 2.

@sora8711 Hahaha you're right! But I presonally think it's our duty, as old school gamers, to inculcate the younger generation to the pieces of art from the past. I try on my part to show my own nephew these games. He's only 6 yo, but he already comes at my home and says: "I wanna play the snail game!" (talking about Adventure Island, which he can't get pass the 1st level XD). I guess when he'll be older, he'll look back at these moments and miss those days, like we all did...

I got a strategic marketing plan, a research essay and finals. I'm gonna wait for Christmas. At least I'll stay in the tradition I've had for a long time. I remember getting DKC1 and 3 used for the Christmas of 2003 when I was 13. This entire series was a repeat rental during toddlerhood and being a kid.
Yeah I'm almost positive DKCR is/going to be 100% amazing and epic. I mean it's Retro Studios. They proved them selves with Metroid Prime. <3

Gotta love this theme, it's another classic from this franchise's amazing soundtracks. DKCR is another game I really wanto to play, but it'll have to wait a bit for now. I'll probably buy it this Christmas. I wish they had hired Wise or Fischer for the music, hopefully Kenji Yamamoto did a good job with it.
