one thing that always ticked me off since this game came around, WHY TINY!?! DIXIE NEEDS LOVING!! dixie's been off somewhere for the longest time and only got a cameo for what, that racing game?? fuck that. still <3 this game for the arena mode, the split screen was gay cause everyone went straight for the homing shots and whoever got those pretty much won :-/

@SupraDarky Yeah, definitely the DKC series were a lot better. I think 3D doesn't fit DK. Overall I think it's a very good game, except for the characters, which I didn't really like.
I wonder why they say Tiny can climb up trees if every other Kong can. They kinda run out of ideas with her.

I liked banjo also better, but DK64 was not a bad game! i remember the cool feeling going very deep into a cave in a cave in a cave in a cave in that level with the big tower. And of course DK playing his own arcade game which made him popular. (although it was very tough). yeah so i will disagree.. ;)

There was so much crap to collect in this game it wasn't even fun anymore (it's called "opinion", downvoters...). The intro itself was probably the most memorable aspect of it, at least for all the wrong reasons. I can't help but love it, to be honest.

And somehow this song is still better then most rap songs..... Also, I thought DK64 was ok. It just had a lot of lame puzzles, and random crap like certain puzzles insta-killing you in about 30 seconds, and bosses being pathetic. Liked it, but liked Banjo Kazooie and the likes a lot more.

@SupraDarky I have to agree with you, in that DK64 was a big letdown. It seems like every franchise was getting a 3D makeover at the time, regardless if the idea behind the game was a good one. This was the first game I tested at Nintendo, and I felt it was just an unsatisfying collection simulator, with a couple cool boss battles and multiplayer for variety. I enjoyed the next game I tested much more: Rare's Jet Force Gemini. As memorable as it is, I think the rap is the worst song in the game.
@SupraDarky While the game definitely had its flaws, and it might not have seemed good as a sequal to the DKC games, I still think it managed a lot of good on its own - it felt like it gave the biggest sense of exploration of the 64-era 3D platformers, and some of the areas carried some incredible ambience. Either way, yeah - invariably you walked out of this game remember something, and chances are it was this intro.

Longest. Intro. Ever. Pretty hardcore but I agree with Supra in that it wasn't all that great as a 3D change. Not to mention wtf was up with making every single aspect to the game some kind of collectible. That in itself was a lame way to try and extend the game. 120 stars for me plox.
All I can say is....FINALLY! XD
DKC 1-3 will always be one of the best Donkey Kong games but this game is a good follow-up after that. I don't even want to talk about how bad the series went after this one.
@SupraDarky Maybe I'm just biased because it was one of the first games I ever played, but I thought it was one of the most enjoyable platformers on the N64 (Which is saying a good deal). Yeah, some of the goals were drawn out and boring, and it was almost comically easy, but I still enjoyed it.

I actually enjoyed this one very much. Probably because I was late to the 3D era, & this actually was my first 3D game ever. However, I think much of it's problem was that, well, how else is it that Rareware had so many hits on the N64 other than the fact that a # of them were just repeats? Tell me Goldeneye and Perfect Dark weren't copies of each other, and this is basically Banjo-Kazooie. Hmm, I guess that makes it kind of ironic Banjo-Tooie and Conkler are my favs since they came last then...

HAHAHAHAH, i like this song 'cause is what I call silly awesome, something so stupid that goes to the other side and comes out as pretty good And yeah, DK64 is the weakest of the collectathon Rare games on the N64, and by far the worst Donkey Kong "Country" game. Playable, but you have no incentive to replay it, it's not even funny like BK and BT (especially BT).

@SupraDarky If it helps, I mostly agree. DK64 was my very first N64 game, but Banjo and SM64 are much better. For sheer nostalgic fun, though, I'll just play this game even in spite of its often-frustrating challenges.

I'll make some people angry here, but I found this game extremely disappointing after the three DKC games on the SNES. It really did nothing much for me as I found games like Mario 64 or Banjo more enjoyable. I guess I just didn't want a 3D Donkey Kong. I do have to say though, that intro was quite memorable.
