This song is on my favorites, but the only thing I wish was different was that the drummer wouldn't set up his kit in the adjacent bathroom.
It's actually in the underground cave. Every once in a while you can hear a frog hit one of the cymbals.

This track reminded me almost instantly of some of the more somber, melancholy music in the anime yu yu hakusho, especially the first melodic section of it at around 0:35, which for anyone who has heard that show's soundtrack, myself included, knows is a very good thing. Incredible game.

Just finished re-watching the movie Whiplash, and am left wondering how come crystal teardrop and Justin Hurwitz's - fletchers song in club are so much alike? Is there a base ballad from which both are taken?
In the midst of my first playthrough and came across this gorgeous piece of music. It's up there with the Final Fantasy VII score and Ocarina of Time menu theme. Love that swanky piano. This game belongs with the greatest of all-time. They sure don't make them like used to.

@ramzadel The PSP version has different voice actors, and it has to be unlocked by finding a secret area in the Rondo of Blood remaster. It's worth it if you wanna play SOTN on the go.

I think his eyes are open. It's difficult to tell because Alucard has yellow ochre-ish eyes, so they kind of blend in well with his eyelids.

The soundtrack is dark, elegant and catchy in ALL Vania games. I love how gothic this one is in particular, especially near the end.

i think i've beaten this game...ohh, about a couple dozen times? the only thing i've never managed to do is get 200.6% on map completion. once i do that, i'll also have my first 100% achievements game on 360!

I'm in the inverted castle right now, just started it and it's my first playthrough alongside with my boyfriend instructing me on what to do at times. I died in the clock tower, because of the men that multiply themselves. Love this soundtrack, but for a long time the game creeped me out and now it doesn't. I hope to beat the game someday, but for now I am taking a break since I get overzealous in Castlevania games when I fight enemies or bosses.

It´s called atmosphere. Konami themselves said that they were inspired by Super Metroid, and porbably they wanted to create an atmosphere in Castlevania: SOTN that is just as good as the atmosphere in Super Metroid, which they succeded in. Just like Super Metroid does the soundtrack play a big roll in creating an atmosphere. Castlevania: SOTN is truly a masterpiece, no doubt about it. It is as good as now as it was then back on it´s release day. Aged like a fine wine.

One of my all time best games,EVER. Love lords of shadow, castlevania 4 but this one is the best by far.
This is one of the very few games I can play over and over again, top to bottom, and still pick it right back up and do it again.
The game aged amazingly well. Still one of the best i've played.

SotN is the best CV in my opinion as well. Tried explaining this to my roommate when he was browsing for one to buy on xbox market and he refused on grounds of "but there's so many newer Castlevanias!" and proceeded to buy some castlevania meant for DS or something.
You wanna know what I wish they had? An extended version where they actually finished those two areas that are missing in this version. Or if they made the Saturn better able to handle transparencies so Alucard didn't look like a fart with the gas cloud relic on.
I wish Lords of Shadow had an ambient remix of this in the game. It'd be lovely.

That tune is just amazing. In fact, it seems that Castlevania games ALWAYS have good music.
SotN does have some great music but I prefer Super castlevania IV, now those are some epic soundtracks. Maybe your next track could be Simon's theme or vampire hunter, or the treasure room or basically anything from super castlevania IV :P

@Brainstrain91 I tried uploading a song from Castlevania SoTN and I got it removed because of ownership of Sony. I tried another song just in case and it still happened the same.
i always loved pushing the box up to the crack in the wall where the water is flowing out, and watching the enemies in the little enclosed area drown.

hmmm...forgot how good this sounded..the only problem I have with this song is that I could NEVER complete the stupid map on this part. tried for hours but no avail...I guess that's why this music makes me feel a little distrought and mad.

It's cool how all 3 of your Castlevania picks from Symphony of the Night are also played by AOL Radio (video game channel if anyone cares).
I'm replaying the game right now, it's been a while. Still as amazing as ever. There's just something about the soundtrack Yamane composed, live recordings full of reverb, you know you're not playing an ordinary game. All the songs have their own feel and emotion, you gotta love it.
