I played the shit out of this game on my grandmas Wii when I was 5-8. now I'm 13 and still play this game from the beggining.
A great game.
SERIOUSLY memorable soundtrack for me. I love games that transport you to a different time and place.

One of the most underrated Genesis masterpieces, right up there with Dynamite Headdy.
There are a lot of good songs from this one.
i like ristar more then sonic actually. this game kicks soo much ass. the final boss fight has quite cool music too.

Funny thing, I just bought Sonic's Ultimate Sega Genesis Collection for PS3. All the best Sega games in one package and decided to finally give this a shot. I'm ashamed of myself for all the times I passed up this title in the past. It's original, creative, a musical masterpiece, and Sega really needs to do something with the series or character, because another history lesson, they haven't done one thing with Ristar since and it upsets me. Very much. Same goes for Vectorman. One sequel? PFF!

@SupraDarky And thus, Ristar was born. Combining the elements of Knuckles Chaotix and Sonic, as well as some Cartoony elements, it wasn't long before Ristar became another great title in the Genesis libary.
i have this on my sonic collection disk for gamecube but i never tried to unlock it
Sega was making a platformer with a rabbit as the hero who could extend its ears and pick up things. Later on they made the character go really fast around the stages and decided speed should be the main focus of the game. They thought it was a good idea to make the hero roll in a ball when he goes really fast so they went with a hedgehog instead (Sonic). Then in 1994 or so, they decided to dust off that old idea and went with a star who could extend its arms (instead of bunny with ears).
