This song needs a remix, it just needs to get rid of those vocal sounds that date the game to the mid-2000s. A top notch RPG boss theme for its sheer intensity.
I didn't like SH2 as much as 1 but this is such an intense boss theme, it made those fights genuinely intimidating
Using Western Demon, Amon against Japanese Demon, Tsukuyomi with this theme was so beast ~ <3

Although I was disappointed by the way up to the ending because the other characters got out of focus a little ( an shit I loved EVERY character in the party in this game ) this still puts me back to how much I wanted to kick Rasputins butt out of this dimension

The "Rave" was most likely started because of how JRPGs work -- you have the "now entering battle mode" animation, and then a panning view of the battlefield, perhaps a few words exchanged as the characters appear on the battlefield....and THEN the battle starts. The music is usually timed so that the "IT IS ON" starts playing just as you gain control of your first character.

First was better imo. Had better characters and felt more dark.

@MellifluousDawn Sorry for replying so late.I don't think i ever got your message otherwise I wouldn't be replying now. But that is true.When I mention SH as one of favorite games people are like "Shadow hearts what?".Few people know it,and fewer have actually played and completed it.

@Piisuke Well, you DO realise that Karin is actually his mother in the good ending, right? But she took up the name she was given in Japan by Princess Anastasia, which was Anne.
This boss theme is just epic. Pumped me up so bad when playing.
This game was simply a masterpiece, easily one of my top 5 favorite RPG's ever.
@KarinKoenig7 SH is very under credited it's definitely my favourite RPG series after the Suikoden games. FF would be third or fourth.

I think it is something like that as well. That is why I prefer the other ending, as in that ending Yuri's still alive and thus leaves it open for him to find some way to get Karen back, provided he finds a way to restore his soul.
It's like his body dies, but his soul goes back in time. I think that at least.
You sure he goes back in time, or do you think he dies? After all, Alice is already dead. As for the paradox, it will only be there, as soon as Karen is born in Germany, which means there's still time to get her out of there. With all the crazy shit that's been in the games, anything can happen, including Yuri getting his soul back. I am not expecting SH4 either, but its wishful thinking. I do have all games though, incl Koudelka.
In the good ending, he goes back in time to relive his memories. In the bad ending, he doesn't forget his memories, they are destroyed, along with his soul. Also, whichever ending they choose, the paradox will still be there, which might be why they left Yuri completely, just had some of the characters left. And there will probably not be any more shadow hearts games. Better to play them all again, starting with: Koudelka
Very true, but in one of the endings, Yuri goes back to be with Alice, in the other, he forgets his memory, which can still be restored. Considering it would be a time paradox if Karen would be Yuri's mother, considering Karen would also be born around that time, I highly doubt, if there's ever a Shadow Hearts 4, that they'd get away with that story.
But the ending for SH2, wether it was the good or the bad, Karin did meet with Yuri's dad right? I thought she did at least.
I'm only calling people liars if they make up stories too farfetched to be believable, or simply claim things without backing them up. Aside, Yuri's element has always been dark, it never changed. You just want Killer to be Yuri too much that you'd even go as far as claiming to be family.
I like to believ she settled with his father, because that was the only way she was going to be with Yuri. Yuri says it in the game that his mother always cried when she looked at him, because she still loved Yuri. As for the bad endings, not necessarily. SH2 took the bad ending from SH1, I am not sure what ending SH3 took. I personally hope the bad ending is chosen, as that, at least leaves Karen into the frame. Anyway, they don't automatically pick the bad ending, just SH2 as far as I know.

It is easy to say that. Lemmie guess, you don't have proof you're related to said person either? There is no hint in the game that Yuri and Killer are related. Yay, they look similar... apart from that they have a different haircolour and Yuri's element is Dark and not Fire, which Killer has.

I'm just telling you Hirota's point of view, based on what he's heard on the crew and his own opinion (at least that's what he told me). We got to talking when I went for a visit in Osaka and he really didn't tell me much. I just met him at that time and Japanese people aren't really that open when it comes to first time encounters.

No, not really. She fell in love with Yuri, but Yuri didn't was in love with Alice, who kept coming back from the dead, the greedy woman she is. Karin loved Yuri so much, that all she wanted to be was at Yuri's side when the world was being destroyed. Because Yuri wanted to be somewhere else, Karin ended being his mother and later on die, due to that attack on his house.
Karin loves Yuri. She tells him, and it's not even necessary cause' it even shows throughout the game. But if you think about it carefully, she really loved him like a mother loves her child. She didn't really know that, of course.

I have played all the games, hence I said the ending of SH2 was horrible. Alice is dead, get over it. Now, Karen who loved Yuri so much is forced into her being his mother. What a pain. The burden of loving your son as if he was your lover. Remember when Yuri sat on the bench and said he was named after his mother's first lover? Oh the cruelty. Man, what a horrible, horrible ending to a great game.
As far as I remember, Killer is unrelated to Yuri. They simply look alike. Please give me a source.

(Reply continued). She becomes his wife and they have Yuri as their son. Karin changes her name to Anne (Anastasia changed her legal papers, legally naming her Anne and a Russian). People that have played SH2 until the end know this. And in SH3, the story continues because what really died was Yuri's counsciousness and soul; this left in the world a body with no memory at all. I personally think you're wrong. You see, every Shadow Hearts game has 2 endings (good and bad), right? But here's the thing: the real endings are the bad ones. In SH1, Alice dies and the story in the second game continues with that. In SH2, Yuri dies and Karin goes into the past and meets with Yuri's father. (Continued in my next reply).
You HAVE to play the first 2 Shadow Hearts games to fully understand the storyline. Also, be sure to watch the Shadow Hearts 2 ending completely (including the scene after the credits roll).

Such a commanding piece... I wish we had more pieces like this one in other RPGs too. And I'd love to listen more from those composers.
I see, so the sequel adds that bit of backstory. I'm still not finished wiht part two. It didn't pull me in the like the first one did. It's very good but the first one seemed a bit darker and maybe its cause of the fewer characters, slower story, I dunno. I have picked it back up about a week ago.
They certainly passed it off that way in the sequel. In the game itself, they were pretty explicit about calling it the Creator God of Judeo-Christian mythology. My guess is that it was supposed to be the Demiurge (the false, imperfect creator deity) that is referred to in the more unorthodox branches of said mythology.

It wasn't The God per se. It seems more like a Cthulu/ Lovecraftian thing where there are God in space. Really, they could just be aliens but I guess there are demons in the shadow hearts world, so they could really be space gods.
She had a few scenes, which was very nice, but for the most part, her character arc peaked at the point she joined the party.
She participated in some of the Director's Cuts.
Lucia was such an awesome character. I wish she had more screentime and development. Even events that should have drawn a strong reaction out of her didn't have her speaking.
Brings back memories of the first time I played SH:Covenant.Have to say that the music pieces in this game are quite remarkable.They also have the ability to catch your attention. One of the best RPGs ever and my favorite,it even serpasses the FF series in my opinion.

The battle music for North America was great, and the spell animations were pretty spectacular, and it had a lot of the Shadow Hearts sense of whimsy and comedy. But it didn't have the gothic horror element, there were traces of it early on, but the whole game, it was just too sunny and happy.

I agree #3 was just a let down I mean c'mon, but it was still a good game, just not as great compared to this.
this was my favorite game of the 3! the first one was really cheap and made God a villain, the third one was just lame. and this is some of my favorite music!
