Ah... I love this music. This is the part of the game that I noticed that my favorite character was Midna. I had never worried so much about a character before. It was raining and, although we didn't had a timer, I was desperate to save her. It's pretty obvious that she can't die in this part, but I appreciate the fact that they didn't include a timer, because of the uncertainty, I didn't know if I had a time limit or not, so I just dashed through this part as fast as I could so that she wouldn't die. I hate the fact that this music is interrupted by the battle music though, even on the HD Remake, it breaks the feeling completely, but this is still one of my favorite moments from all the games that I played. Another thing thought, Midna's Desperation Hour (Midna's Lament) from Super Smash Bros. is a clearer version, it's, sadly, better than the game's version, you can notice how the melody from the piano is a bit muffed in this version.
One of my favorite VGM pieces of all time.
TP may have been average in terms of Zelda games, but it had some sparks of absolute genius here and there, like this song. Pretty cool how it remixes the Dark World theme from ALTTP too.
This is my favorite tune in Twilight Princess and probably in my top 5 of all time favorite tracks.

I hope they do an HD version of this game. Even though its not bad looking, plus they could add a couple of features like boss rebattles. I love this game, one of my favorites.

I remember getting so peeved when an enemy would try to attack me, because it would interrupt this music, and I was filled with a constant sense of 'I don't have time for your bullshit I've gotta save the life of the best character in this game'

I have to agree. navi was the only annoying companion in the zelda games ive played.
Midna, the only companion that wasn't annoying as hell.
Despite this being one of my least favorite Zelda titles, this song still strikes a powerful chord. I wasn't fond of Midna's sudden change of heart, but that still doesn't mean that I never showed worry towards her during this sequence. I think that this moment of the game was the one part that still aged well enough in my eyes. Lovely song, one of my favorites.

The shadow of wolf link there looked almost like the shadow of Guybush Threepwood sitting there to me. I had to look at it for a few seconds to see the wolf.

This song just set the mood when I played that part. Its raining and midna's so close to death.

Idk who im supppose to respond to but this song is highly sophisticated! this and and the love theme from SS are the few themes in a game that actually make you really feel for a character!

Emtionally yes, obviously I never stated it was developed to a high degree of complexity. Since we're all so impressed (and yourself and/or 3 people obviously aren't) why don't you go listen to some WW music since it's oh-so-phisticated.
@MrZangetsu468 You forgot the first and foremost definition of Sophisticated. "(of a machine, system, or technique) Developed to a high degree of complexity." Which in this case, this song is not, as it is repetitive and mellow. I know you were talking about Zelda music, and this is not a sophisticated song. It is in the emotional department? But other than that, this song is not developed to a high degree of complexity. Wind Waker was more sophisticated in it's music.

One of the most sophisticated Zelda tracks. Actually reminds me of the final Temple in Alundra but more mellow.
This game felt so zelda to me. imo, of all the zelda games, this one has the most zelda-ness to it (possibly tied with LttP). i think this part of the game actually gave me shivers.

@TheCuster58 You're right, the Ice arrow is a "cool" example. The developers make sure it works decently, prolly in a menial way by shooting Ice arrows at any would-be targets in the entire game,. But the bow-arrow fundamental code and testing is already accounted for. All they need are a few extra graphical effects and a "stopper" for the moving enemy. Inserting "new" items by modifying old items, is not hard. Red bombs, anyone? Upgradable boomerang? If you have a gamemechanic, make use of it!
Twilight Princess is definitely my favorite game. Everything about it, I love. It reminds me of so much.

@SupraDarky It's a conundrum. If they have cool gear and items (Bomerang, bombs, hookshot) they want to make them useful in the game (stunnable enemies, breakable walls, attachable spots). But implementing items requires RL dev resources. Items in hidden caves are items the playersbase can miss and not experience. By putting nice items in mandatory temples they ensure that all players will enjoy them and other resources are used to improve the rest of the game. The music for example =)

@chcoman123 Like I said, they are BOTH correct. Midna's Lament and Midna's Desperate Hour are names for the same song. Not just one. Just because in America we call it, Midna's Lament doesn't mean that's the only name and real name. This happens a lot with other games when translating from Japanese to English. I've seen it countless times.

@CrazyMan03 yeah, but am i talking about the japanese version? nope! Besides, SSBB called it "Midna's Lament" so thats what it's real name is. I dont think that nintendo would screw up the music name in a different game that has a character and the SAME MUSIC from the SAME GAME!

This beautiful and stoically despairing. Too bad this music lasted all of the 5 seconds it took to save Midna (at least that's how I recall it).

LOL, that wolf looks more like a lion. Anyways, this is probably one of my least favorite Zelda games, because I thought it was way too similar to Ocarina of Time but with less colorful graphics. It did have some nice things in it, like this song.

@charger619c When Midna basically almost dies after getting the Fused Shadows and Zant attacks her. When you're trying to get Midna to Zelda in Hyrule Castle to be saved, this is playing.
This music makes me think of walking down a road in the fall... with a lot of leaves falling down around me. By myself... a few kids playing games outside. I continue walking, emotionless, as if ignoring the children's joy, but I am not sad. The kids stop playing for a moment, and watch me walk by. I am empty.
funny how half these comments mention Majora's Mask. 'Last End' from MM is one of the most chilling, depressing and emotional songs I've ever heard. Fantastic game. Twilight Princess is amazing too!
This song is actually really nice. It becomes a top contributor to the atmosphere of the game. A fairly relaxing tune and just a nice piece overall.
they never made enough copies of this game for gamecube in the UK. It still costs a tonne second hand. I so want to play it though.
Best song in the game. Twilight Princess was okay, though I'd still rank it lower than MM and maybe even WW. I disliked how the special item you got in each dungeon seemingly became useless beyond the dungeon you got it in and getting a Heart Piece or two. What I liked about MM was the crazy amount of sidequests, along with the lore.

@SupraDarky that's what I liked so much about Majora's Mask (one of many things). At the end of a mini dungeon or miniquest, you don't just get another heart piece. You could quite possibly get a mask, which in itself likely has another use. Much more exciting.

As an aside, one thing I hope they fix in the next Zelda are the rewards you get outside the dungeons. It's a problem that's been present throughout most of the series, where I'll find a cool hidden cave or something. I go inside, there's a fun mini-labyrinth, and in the end all I get is either 100 Rupees (when I already have 999 so the chest stays closed) or a piece of heart. It's rarely a surprising reward.
@Masz52 That's the thing though, for me Zelda is all about dungeons. It's the number one reason I love this series so much. Even then, while MM definitely had the upper hand in terms of things to do outside the dungeons, I spent a lot of fun time outside of them as well in TP. It had a lot of mini-games and hidden caves or spots you could go back to with your new dungeon treasures.

TP is my least favorite 3D Zelda. Relatively weak soundtrack, uninteresting locales, static towns, pointless quests, boring characters. It's just not cohesively designed.
This is honestly one of my favorite tracks from any zelda game. Even though it's so simple... it just conveys this dark ambiance so well... nothing like it....
@SupraDarky to be fair, oot wasn't exactly hard either. mm was the only 3d zelda that provided a real challenge
Majora's Mask my fav namely because the town was the first time it actually felt like a real town, like the people were real and to this day one of the only games to still do just that. Breath life into everything. Kinda ironic since it's the Zelda where the psychopath of a villain is actually killing everything.Probably Nintendo's way of getting everyone to care for the people a little more.They did it here in TP with Midna and look at all of these people caring!(my comments relate to the vid)
Wind Waker would arguably be my favorite actually, but I cannot stand the Triforce section of it, I really can't. It's even left many of my friends to denounce the game's existance in fact and mark it as the worst. I feel that's a bit much but that part of the game I could do without.
Sad, and I can say this at the same time very dramatic, racing to save a life. And since we bring it up, MM my favorite Zelda, then OoT, WW, LttP, TP takes 5th. This order partially due to the soundtracks, partially with their styles and it also has something to do with the overrall feel and pacing of the games.
The MM Trading quest is probably the most elaborate sidequest of all time. With one of the coolest rewards!

MM is probably my second or most favorite Zelda game. Of course I hated the time limit when I was younger, but I don't mind it these days. I recently read something that did a very good job stating why MM is awesome but it's too big to post here. As for TP, it's like a better version of OoT to me.
@SupraDarky The lack of dungeons didn't bother me because there was a ton of stuff to do outside of that. That's something I didn't like about TP. It felt like you were just going from dungeon to dungeon, while MM you had like a shit ton of side quests you could do in between.
sounds a little kingdom hearts-ish, i wasnt the biggest fan of twilight princess music beacuse it wasn't orchestrated but it was still pretty good
@XxDJXepherxX Definately give it another shot. So much of that game can't be appreciated when we're young, out mostly for the gameplay. It's the atmosphere that really sells that game. You thought this part of the game was heavy? Try not feeling something when Anju sits in the inn as the moon is falling, saying she will wait, all to one of the most... final pieces of music ever.
@SupraDarky Woah, it's my favorite Zelda game, even my favorite video game in general. It's really good, give it another chance. The atmosphere and music is great, and the whole mask thing is frikkin awesome, with the 3 forms of link. And the NPC interaction is great, you really feel for these people as they struggle to get somewhere in the last days of their lives, over and over again.
UFFF awesome song dude! this is probably one of my favorites zelda´s game, to me its better that ocarina of time, maybe it´s because a like a game almost by its music, and this game has a MUCH BETTER music than OoT, and that´s why i love Majora´s Mask more than OoT, majoras mask has a best atmosphere, and this one too... awesome

@XxDJXepherxX I've only played MM when it came out and finished it pretty quickly. I'd need to play it again, but it's my least favorite 3D Zelda. I remember really not liking the 3 days system and the lack of dungeons.
@cooky1 The game being too easy is definitely the game's biggest fault for me. Same with Wind Waker.

@SupraDarky it certainly has innovative dungeons although in my opinion it's far too easy. Personally Majora's Mask is my favourite with the darker themes and the best sidequests from any Zelda game.
I've played the Gamecube one to the end, but when I tried the Wii one off of a friend later on I was completely disoriented because it was all flipped around x_x
While OoT definitely had the bigger impact on me at the time, Twilight Princess is actually my favorite 3D Zelda (Link's Awakening being my favorite 2D Zelda). Few people usually agree with me. When it comes to the dungeons, I really find it unmatched. Plus I actually really like the Shadow world with its unique and dark atmosphere (and impressive graphics).
