@PaperMario15 sorry, no one consider that a failure in any sense, it is an epic game, SMB 1 and 2 (the original) share the same style and are both excellent games, so as zelda ocarina of time and majora's mask, metroid prime series and the list go on, nintendo knows when to stop and not making the thing repetitive (at least in the main series, of course those sports spin-offs are mostly the same thing)

@HcOtaku1337 Pretty much yes. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was a disappointment in the fact that it failed to innovate itself in any meaningful way, which is highly uncharacteristic of a Mario game.
@HcOtaku1337 are you kidding me the story of the second one was almost the same as the first one. And plus i don't play mario games for the story cause the story is usually almost the same. It improved on everything that was important. Gameplay.

@SupraDarky your line just gave me a bomb of nostalgia, I was in a particularily same bout as you, except it wasn't even close to sold out, they got shipped like 120 copies, only sold 30. I just didn't have enough money, I had games but my city had a by-law, so I had to go somewhere else (I think I already told you this, I have a bad memory).

@dimmondslice ahh i see the problem heres the thing until you got the 121 stars (ithink thats correct) then simply put its a casual game then after that it gets extremly hard trust me it took me a day of gaming to get the last star

my only regret about this game is that it wasnt as challenging as they made it out to be, i still havent gotten a game over and i have 111 starts...thats said, this game is still fantastic
@DaManoMano Super Mario RPG has the best story to it, besides the fact that it has RPG in the name and Square Enix (God-maker of RPGs) made it. I think having a story most of the time is good to help people keep on tract with the game without getting lost and confused. But at the same time, it's nice to have a game where you can just go out and just randomly veg with no cause behind it, like Dead Rising.

i broke free from my xbox and went out and got this, its amazing, especially since everyone thinks that just because wii has crappy online that all the games story modes suck as well. Besides SSBB and Strikers are examples of great online games, and to also say that CoD has only 6 hour solo content.
Mario platformer with the best story? Super Paper Mario, since it's more of a platformer and less of an RPG.

@sihTdaeRtnaCuoY i dunno, they could be motivated by the fact that the game is so damn fun, and they want to keep playing (kinda like a addiction). as for the mystery, its trying to guess what kind of zany idea theyll experience in the next level. like i said, the gameplay more than makes up for the story. yes, nintendo COULD add a elaborate story (as shown in the rpgs), but they deliberately chose not to, because they learned from SMG1 that story=bad in a mario platformer.
Just got it about 2 hours ago. It's more of the same just harder(but not by much)... ... And whoever thinks that's necessarily a bad thing has not played either yet. This game is mind blowingly awesome.
@sihTdaeRtnaCuoY its funny though, in SMGs case, the addition of story actually DID detract from the experience. read any SMG review, and theyll say that the rosalina diary thing, which is the only story-oriented part of the game, was the only bad thing about SMG, and thats why they gave a 9 or 9.5 instead of 10.
I wasn't sure if I'd buy this game, but then I played it in Gamestop and had the biggest smile on my face the entire time...
@sihTdaeRtnaCuoY the story doesnt need to be elaborated on. its a plumber jumping on giant turtles in space. in fact, SMG2 is just so awesome that it more than makes up for lack of story. thats why i like nintendo the best. when sony is making giant blockbuster stories, completely putting gameplay as a second thought as shown in FFXIII and MGS4. nintendo does the opposite, making gameplay so awesome story desnt matter. graphics dont matter in a good ｐｌａｔｆｏｒｍｅｒ, so why should story?

Honestly, it's a good thing Mario doesn't have a story. Because with how much perfection he already has behind everything else he does, if Mario had a story then that'd be it. No one would buy any other game ever and it'd be a standard that Mario must be in a game for anyone to bother buying it. I'm not even an avid Mario fan and I can recognize that he's that big!

I gotta say I love the music in this game and everything is perfect. the only thing I wish they didnt do is completly go off the story line from the first one. That just kinda seems low to all the new characters in the first Super Mario Galaxy.

@GoroWannabe Really? Have you listened through all of the new songs, cause there's plenty of epic new songs there. And lots of nicely orchestrated classics. Yes, they put like 5-10 variations of Gusty Garden in there too (this being one of them), but there's invariably also a shitload of other awesome tracks in this game :D.
The thing that stood out for me in SMG1 is the unbelievably amazing music. If this song is a preview of the music in this game, this game's music is going to exceed every of my expectations.

There was actually a Nintendo representative promoting SMG2 and a ton of copies of the game at a nearby Best Buy today. Not that many people were there, but we both spent a good amount of time talking about Nintendo and the video game industry. It was kinda cool.

I couldn't buy the game today, it was sold out everywhere. To be fair I woke up way too late, but I can't wait to play this. If this is even better than the first one, I'll be in for quite a ride of pure fun and brilliance.
