I only learnt about Disgaea after getting the DS version. Already used to the DS music, but the original sounds wonderful too.

Oh? So you have introduced yourself to some NIS games afterall? This saved me from the trouble of asking it on some unrelevant video. This is my favourite game series ever, by the way. Or actually a game series by my favourite game developer company. Tenpei Sato is such a great composer. Running Fire was a theme that surprised me a bit. It didn't seem to fit the game's music profile at all, but I like it. ... man, now the nostalgia's pouring all over me...
La Pucelle : Tactics (same composer) have some nice track too.

I think that was the 3rd game Nippon Ichi brought to the US. After all these years, I still feels this is the best one they brought in America.

also, I'm sorry to double-comment, but a thought just struck me: I think SupraDarky should consider adding Galaxy Wars, also from Disgaea, to this list. I think it's one of the best songs in the game.

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness was SOOO much better than the first. Can't say much about the 3rd game as I haven't played it... And yes... it pretty much is about grinding your way through multiple levels (mostly in Item World to level up items to make them better)
The only game in this series I played was 2, though I didn't like it very much. I heard this was a lot better. On the other hand, I also heard that all the games are basically about grinding the hell out of your characters, which doesn't really appeal to me.
Great tune I love the Disgaea series I own all of their games except the PS3 version (dont own a PS3 haha)
still catchy on the DS, though. all in all, I think they did a fantastic job on the DS port. It was more a problem of space then capability. they had to make cuts to some of the voice overs and music quality just to fit the hole game on that small cartridge.

They butchered it in Disgaea DS. I am not surprised since the DS could not handle everything inside a PS2 game.
The disgaea music is surprisingly good. I love Laharl's theme.
