This game is full of hilarious pirate action and exciting environments to discover! And then you get this calm, heavenly piece of music, that basically says to you: "Hold on, you've already made it this far, and you'll reach your goal soon! Keep searching around in these wonderful, shimmering ice caves, because in the end, you'll meet with a good old seal friend! He will be there for you to help you progress through his beautiful home!" It is so heart-warming!

I LOVE DONKEY KONG COUNTRY 1,2,3 ITS EXELENT
I just realized DKC2 has 2 kinds of water stages. The first type being the rather grim and tense ship hold type levels while the more soothing atmosphere type levels take place in these crystal caverns made of ice. What's quite ironic is the calmer ice cave themed water levels come later in the game in the sixth world and as such are not surprisingly harder then the more intense atmosphere ones in the ship holds. Well there is Black Ice Battle in the secret world 8 which doesn't have water in it. Unless of course you consider it a water stage by technicality due to it being all frozen.

Probably the most nostalic video game tune for me...DKC 2 is my favourite game together with OoT and this theme just reminds me so much to the days back in 95/96, when my older brother and I played this game for weeks...great times!
Indeed. I think I haven't played anything except DKC 2, as it was the only DK game we had back then. Getting introduced to so much gameplay as kid, it was pure joy. Simply because of that, I started playing older games now, that I haven't played yet. Starting with Fallout 1. Wish me lots of luck and fun, wishing it to you, too!
@SwissCheesy Have fun! :) Revisiting or discovering old classics is always great! And I'm so glad that the DKC series got such good sequels still many years later...I hope this will continue in the future. And with David Wise doing the soundtrack again it can't get any better. ;)

Loved this song for years. Got in to Vangelis slightly recently and realized this song is a rip off of Vangelis' Antarctica theme. I ain't even mad I like this one better.

It might be snowing when I wake up tomorrow morning. I have this song on my iPhone and have it as my alarm. If it IS snowing and I wake up to this song it'll be the best day ever. I live in Southeast Texas by the by, so snow around here is a PRETTY BIG DEAL.

this soundtrack gave Chuck Norris a tear in his eye. Small, but it was there. No music will ever beat this game. Hell, no game will ever beat this trilogy. I miss my worry-free childhood were i would sit with my dad back in my old neighborhood and play snes for hours. This game is in all of our hearts forever :,)

I really liked this "blue light" effect on the screen. It suits the song very well.
Thats the best thing about this game. The levels are creative, the music is so calm and gentle and not to mention this is one of the best games on SNES.
I NEED DKCR2 with all these great tracks like this remixed (and of course water levels ;) )

@darkemg They also did Battletoads, though; actually, it was one of David Wise's first games I believe (the man who did all the fantastic music for DKC and DKC2).
@revanskywalker It's true. They did a fantastic job on DKCR and Hell, look at the soundtrack for Metroid Prime. Absolutely amazing.

@VoxAcies I totally agree. Limitation often breeds creativity. Early game composers always said how they had to squeeze a lot out of limited technology, but great ideas come through this process.
Perhaps, the limitation of sound chips is what made the 90s' game music awesome.

Rare isn't the same anymore, unfortunately. Even if they ever come back to Nintendo, most of Rare personnel left, including the Stamper brothers, the ones responsible for founding the company. Rare's acquisition by Microsoft was, definitely, the end of an era in video gaming history.

Rare did a lot of crappy games back on NES era (the LJN-ones, that the AVG despises so much, where most PUBLISHED by LJN, but DEVELOPED by Rare). But here comes the SNES and, lo, the bastards learned how to make masterpieces.
