You have to understand folks. Top Gear Rally for Nintendo 64 for the USA make. Whether you've played the European Top Gear Rally or the Japanese Top Gear Rally. European and Japanese style music, it's portrayed for their genre. The USA version was designed for our genre. As a musician you learn to love all kinds of music. To be honest I love this USA Top Gear Rally song. The song is not dramatic. I'm 43 Years old. My brother is 38 years old. We still play this game, today. The Top Gear Rally USA version is one of the most memorable racing games we've ever played on Nintendo 64. The song that you hear when you're painting your car is all in the same package with the Main Menu Soundtrack. The USA version is what we grew up with. I believe most people do not appreciate much of anything. I look forward to recreating the main menu song, a lot of looping, back and forth listening to grab the piano chords, counterparts, melodies. I always loved to design paints to put on the car. Anyways, learn to like appreciate music.

+Darksurge Yes, it is not as if this could be on the Perfect Dark OST, but it has a similar vibe or at least reminds me of Perfect Dark and I would not have expected that from Top Gear Rally.

There are plenty of brilliant games being created these days, you just seem to have your nostalgia goggles on too tight. Many games from the N64/PS1 generation have aged poorly, save for a few masterpieces.
Also, just saying, Top Gear Rally 2 was crap. :(
I was playing this earlier, and oh man. So goddamn fun. I prefer earlier games than the much crappier games these days. Sucks I cant find my rumble pack. Gonna get a new one. :/

this main title theme is exclusive to the North American NTSC version of the game. The European/Australian PAL version and the japanese ntsc version has the more upbeat theme you are familiar with

I just bought this game and I wasn't expecting good title mmusic like this, I left it playing and even though I didn't have this game back then I felt as if I did :D
@FinPro12 I agree with you, the song would fit much better at the end of a sad movie, when a little boy was the only survivor from a sunken ship where he lost his whole family, alone at a small island where no one ever would be able to find him. The song is just so emotional and unexplainably beautiful, it honestly tears my eyes. I had the Top Gear for N64 but maybe it was the UK version because I haven't heard this one before. :(
Working with Blender and GIMP while playing that song in the background 14 years later sure brings a nostalgic feeling back...

@timodude1985 The Top Gear (both 1 and 2) for the SNES were the best racing games I've ever played. I was playing them at the age of 3 I think, and I'm 25 as we speak.

I don't know why, but this is like the time when you first hear it, it's relaxing, second time you hear it, you feel you understand the song alot more, third time you actually enjoy it. =/

Probably the sim racing game I played the most on the N64. I spent a lot of time playing around with the car painting, customizing it and all. It blew me away back then, so I heard this song quite a lot.
