this game has some great music. I thought the game itself was mostly meh though (gameplay, characters, plot).
This is my favorite piece from Blue Dragon (an otherwise underwhelming score for me). Uematsu meets Tchaikovsky.

Well like you said there's a big emphasis on enemy weakness and NOT all enemies in the same dungeon have the same weaknesses. The game was a tough game that demanded planning. You couldn't over-level for a boss due to the EXP system, you had to figure out how to beat him strategically. The ring system added a lot to gameplay and teaching your characters the right abilities for them (immortals need mortals leveling up to learn new abilities) etc. etc. etc.
How is the battle system complex at all? The only strategy there is is the most basic strategy in all rpgs. That is to find an enemy's weakness and use a spell that exploits that weakness; which gets very old and repetitive when all the enemies in the dungeon have the same weakness. The ring system was near useless as well. As for the characters....Kaim is the most boring main character in jrpg history. Seth and Jansen were the only decent characters.
Disagree entirely. Battle system's complex and requires plenty of strategy. The story's pretty good, I thought. Not revolutionary but the characters are great and the presentation's top-notch.
Lost Odyssey is overrated. Battle system is way too basic and boring and the story is meh... ToV and even Last Remnant are better imo.

yaya i liked BD too, but not as much as FF6 and others =D it's a good game, also because story is from sakaguchi and music is from uematsu, just give it a try =)
cant compare with the good old final fantasy games but still above decent RPGs
im really surprised there is no summon night here yet. i was really surprised that the title theme from summon night: swordscraft story 1 was so awesome
it's waaaaay better than Final Fucks that are doin' in this years.... Square Enix is a shame
Lost Odyssey is the 360 RPG to get, though.

I guess it reminds you of Swan Lake composed by Tchaikovsky. Back in 2008, when I played Blue Dragon, I noticed it, too.
A beautiful song by Uematsu. The part from 1:37-1:52 really reminds me of something else. I noticed it the very first time I heard the song when I played the game.
