0:15 - 0:16 sounds a bit like certain parts of midna's theme from twilight princess, if you listen very carefully. I'm surprised nobody has noticed this.
The Zelda series typically reuses a lot of motifs from their music to retain a familiar feel to the soundtracks and help keep players feeling at ease and comfortable playing them.

Zelda 2 was not that difficult and is probably the most underrated game in the entire series.

+Spardeous I am 33, I was a child when I played zelda 1, zelda 2, and zelda 3. Zelda 2 might be underrated, but it was a big disappointment. And then you play 2 or 3 years after Zelda 3, you hear this music... :) man... You just can't compare !

I mean, they're not Castlevania difficult, but they're not easy. Or at least Link to the Past isn't easy. I still see the game over screen a decent amount of times when I replay it, while other Zelda games, I rarely do.
The point: None of these games are actually difficult.
I can see what you mean. One game that doesn't use invincibility frames at all is Perfect Dark for the N64, you literally take damage from every single hit in that game and can be mowed down in one second if you are unlucky. And that game is definitely challenging, the DarkSims still give me nightmares.
I think it really comes down to invincibility frames. There are far too many ways to generate free invincibility frames in the later games. If they didn't give them or the maneuvers didn't exist, the games would be much more difficult.
More effective maneuvers shouldn't really be an excuse to make a game easier, though - it should always be balanced so that even though you have more attack and defense options, the game will still be hard and compensate for it.
And it is also the reason I bought a 3DS. =)

You have to compensate for the fact that people were just getting used to playing 3-D games at the time. I remember thinking Mario 64 was enormous and that nobody could ever beat it 100% without a strategy guide lol.
Also because Ganondorf has a peculiar interest in your fishing rod.
The 3d games weren't that challenging, excluding Majora's mask. Though the heroic mode for SS was pretty tough considering you couldn't find hearts at all.

I have both the SNES version and the remake for the GameBoy Advance. While it's not quite the same, it's damn close, and it's easier to bring with me if I want my Zelda fix. :3
It depends on what you find difficult. Ocarina of Time's difficulty was always something like, "Okay so this is a boss, now I need to find a weak spot, figure out how to harm that weak spot, then find figure out the best strategy for that. Link To The Past's difficulty was normally more like "THINGS ARE FLYING AT ME FROM EVERYWHERE! SHIT!!!"
She was and is. She doesn't game much anymore aside from casual games and quieter games like Viva Pinata. But I wouldn't be where I am in the video game world were it not for her.

While its not my personal favorite Zelda title (it is close, though!), this is certainly what I'd consider the best one. I love Ocarina and all, but A Link to the Past just felt so long and fulfilling. And wow, talk about a GREAT soundtrack, too.
It's funny. I actually did some tests regarding strongest enemies in the games. In Alttp, there are several enemies capable of dealing 6 hearts of damage to a green tunic Link. In OoT the strongest attacks are Ganon's swords, and an Iron Knuckle's axe which each deal 4 hearts of damage to an unarmoured Link. With the strongest stuff on in Alttp, and the defence boost in OoT, the strongest attacks deal 2 hearts of damage.

LttP only seems easier because you're so practiced on it. Ocarina of Time is easier because you have effectively twice as much health and you can more effectively dodge attacks. Additionally, Twilight Princess is easier still because you have more effective combat maneuvers.
I think that ocarina of time is the best of anyone of zelda :)

I have been able to beat this game for years with no trouble and get everything, some thing early even, it's graphics pale in comparison to modern games, and few of its items were used in any other games, and it's still my favorite, followed closely by OoT, because that game has one thing that really matters thats better than this game, it's music, and thats not by much.
thanks to Youtube I have completed this game, in those days only about 20 out of 100 gamers could complete this game on there own. Infact! nintendo actually got thousands on phone calls those old days when the game came out on how to complete the game, (get hidden hearts etc etc)

So i was standing in the gaming store and bought Zelda which wasn't the one i thought i twas.... but thank god i chose this one... it changed my life. such an epic theme, so true to the idea of a world transformed and destroyed by agahnim. i agree with @redwolf481, i'm generally a bigger fan of the final fantasy series, and seriously believe uematsu should get his due as one of the most talented and versatile composers today, but this is an utterly epic track, and a key part of my childhood. thank you for compiling these @SupraDarky.

I've only really played this game for the first time recently [bought it on the wii VC]. It is infinitely great. Truely a magical game.
@1600Percent So close to my list! I put the original in 7th place with Link's Awakening and the Oracle titles above it. Majora's Mask and OoT will often switch places depending on how I'm feeling. The rest of the series was way too linear for my tastes. I love games where you can utilize almost any trick in your arsenal to get things done in a different order without having a negative effect on 100% completion. That's why Super Metroid and this game are infinitely replayable.
This is my personal top five favorite list of Zelda games, in order! 1) ALTTP 2) Majora's Mask 3) Ocarina of Time 4) Legend of Zelda 5) Link's Awakening
@Lusebusen Couldn't have said it better myself. Ocarina of Time was good and is generally the most favored Zelda game of them all, but in my opinion it derived most of its epicness from ALTTP. The music, the 3 dungeon/master sword/endgame dungeon layout, Kakariko Village. Nothing compares to ALTTP, and nothing ever will.

Zelda at it's best. They made it too cartoony these days, with exception to Twilight princess. I just think the magic of the older games, Ocarina of time included, isn't there as much.

This game and majoras mask are the 2 best zeldas to Me, oot was ok but it lacked the darkness this game and marjoas mask had, zelda games are too colourful most of the time now :(, tp was a copout, hope skyward sword is awesome.
If only there was a dark world in ocarina of time and this theme, nintendo needs to remake this game and no oot isn't a remake of this it has some similarities but that's it.
I know that I'm no the only one that prefers this over the normal Overworld theme.

If you pay attention in a link to the past one of the girls tell you that Ganon's real name is Ganondorf...he changed his name after he got the triforce...you really ought to pay more attention...because in ocarina of time wind waker and major's mask agahnim never existed...

Ah memories~ I really love that game even though me and lil' brother were never able to beat it xD We were stuck at some place. All I can remember is that there were the two last temples for us to clear in the dark world.

I'm so glad I own this game. It's definitely one of my top 3 favorite Zelda games, and this is probably my favorite song from the series. Why can't modern-day games have such epic music as this? Who needs amazing graphics anyway

@Jlinkburritomaster It only followed the basic Zelda style gameplay, which by then was another mainstay. OoT was also extremely short and didn't take as much of an advantage over the N64's abilities as it could have. Now, OoT's plot was great and the characters themselves were far more in-depth than anything made previously for Zelda, but that can't make up for mediocre gameplay. So yes, ALttP > OoT, but not because "they're the same game only different". Really, OoT is just more popular.
@Jlinkburritomaster It's not that I don't agree with you, but... I think you're honestly mistaken in saying that OoT is ALttP turned 3D with plot-change due to them sharing a few mainstay features like Cuccos, the Lost Woods, the Master Sword, etc. There is no doubt that ALttP is the superior game - the plot's great, the gameplay is extraordinary, and the music is epic - but it and OoT are very different. OoT's gameplay was far less fun and bore practically no resemblance to ALttP's.

Oh yeah, I can remember that melody quiet well~ I actually never played that game, but brother loves it, for him it is the best Zelda ever. Intrestingly, it takes him three days to finish TP, but one and a half weeks to finish this.

@firemaka I unfortunately missed a good chunk of it. I've got FF6 on the gameboy advance and played SMW, LTTP, Donkey Kong Country, Chrono Trigger, Kirby All Stars, Mario Super Star, ect., but I never got a chance to play old school metroid... I need to get a working SNES and buy some of these classics. I've got a FC3, but it's just not the same

Pure. Unadulterated. Nostalgia. This was my favorite game growing up. To this day it's still probably the best Legend of Zelda game, or at least it's certainly up there.

Brawl version is cool on its own merits, but this one is better I think- especially since this song means business and the Brawl version is too relaxing.
In a way it's better than OoT, but when OoT first came out, WOW! OoT definitely has the bigger WoW factor.

You got a point there but one significant detail is missing that would make Zelda a RPG: Link doesn't get stronger by fighting enemies. It is true that he gets better while the game progresses, but this happens in other games that are clearly no RPGs as well, like when you get a stronger weapon in a shooter. This basically makes Zelda into an Action-Adventure with RPG-Elements rather than a full RPG. Just my opinion.
Zelda is an Action Adventure Roleplay all games like wow or zelda or FF or Devil my cry atre roleplay bekause you have a carakter and you can learn skills and making better yourself

My own definition of an RPG is a game which I play to assume the role of a fictional character. Many games - including the Zelda - I personally play to kill, solve, build, etc. As agglefragglecalp said, almost all games would be RPGs if the definition was just the raw name.

Now this is one of the true classic games for the SNES. Without a doubt my favourite Zelda/Link-game.
On top of that, the new world opened up new areas in the old world, adding even more epic hours!
Ideally, this track should being with the sound of Link swinging the Master Sword over his head.
Got stuck and gave up, I was a pink bunny, stuck on top of a mountain, probably wasnt very hard to figure out what to do, but hey, I was just a kid.
Ah, so many memories. Link to the Past FTMFW! First game I bought for my SNES. Still have the cart with all my original saves. My PARENTS even played this game it was so good. Agree with ChristophoclesX, right before I transitioned into the Dark World for the first time, I remember thinking "Darn, this game is probably almost over...", then MAGIC! A whole new world to explore. So epic.

It's true, there were some amazing games for NES and SNES. I remember how shockingly amazing the graphics were on "A Link to the Past" (especially the trees!). These days budget has increased 100 fold for games and the resolution has improved but good design is good design and the old games were some of the best!
But doesn't that just make you think of how truly awesome our video games were when we were younger? I mean, sure ours were definitely not as pretty, but they were some of the most influential things of our generation (I'm only 22). I still have a large amount of video game tunes on my iTunes list.
I remember tripping on acid when I was 17, thinking I was Link and whistling this tune till I was hoarse, running through the woods....you know you're a dyed-in-the-wool geek when all you can think of is the Legend of Zelda while plumbing the depths of your sub-conscious ;)

This is easily one of the best songs in the Zelda series. It perfectly encapsulates the feeling of wandering a deteriorated rundown world that is full of despair. (It's especially fitting in the Village of Outcasts and the scene that shows the fate of the flute boy.)

This song always gives me the feeling of actually being in the game. Sounds bold and heroic. Link will press onward through the dark veils of the once Golden Land at any cost to rescue the Golden Power from the demon thief Ganon. The main part of the song represents the corruption of the land and the percussion in the background demonstrates the Hero's bold efforts.

I would not think so, because the mirror from link to the past can only transport you one way from dark to light, whereas the mirror of twilight transports you both ways, also in link to the past the only way you could get into the dark world was through portals or Aghnim's powers

Ever since ALttP came out, think of the other Zelda games. right now, I'm thinking of a Zelda game where you collect 3 precious items, get the Master Sword, defeat more dungeons, fight Ganon. There are 4 or 5 Zelda games I could be talking about... Also, the "Dark World" from ALttP could also represent Older Link's Hyrule in OoT, Termina of MM, The Great Sea of tWW, Subrosia of OoS, and as you mentioned and more obviously, the Twilight Realm of TP.
