To me this is personally my most favorite Castlevania game... Sadly it seems underrated from the rest of the series. It just stands out and is unique from the rest of the other games in my opinion. Maybe that's why I like it so much.

1:12 This part gets me every time. It's just this wave of gloom that comes out of nowhere. It's the change in melodic direction that's unexpected.
You knew that as soon as you were about to enter Dracula's chamber as the echo crescendos down your spine that he was waiting for and boy was he pissed!! No dialog no talk only the emergence of lighting sparks and paranormal activity as the whole chamber erupts violently as he's about to make his appearance and take your a$$ down!! There is no turning back as he's very confident, very pissed and you're about to find out why as the battle of death emerges..The music only highlights the situational desperation and the helpless situation you're about to find yourself in...Still the most haunting and sorrowful fight musical track in the franchise that shows everyone losses in the end.

Nearly 30 years old and I still remember this music and boss fight as a 6 yr old. God what a good game, and I didn't realize how big an impact Castlevania had on me. Still want to be Simon for Halloween

Truly the best Dracula boss theme. Super Castlevania 4 is one of the very few games that I really like the WHOLE soundtrack. A Masterpiece that holds up very well nowdays.

This music really sells the idea of having only one chance to set things right again almost like a faint light in the darkness truly its as poetry in music form 10/10 performance right here.

Castle of the Guy Entrance!
It's not only an amazing, creepy music, but it was used well in the game. When you walk toward the final boss, torches light up, an finally you arrive to the evil himself, Dracula and instead of changing music immediately, it still plays during the fight. It gives a really dark atmosphere for the hole fight. It really feels like a real fight. And when he's going down, Simon's theme cues in like "IT'S TIME TO KICK ASS!"
It's like every single song in this game is memorable and epic. Konami, you guys did some awesome work back in the day!

Just killed Death, then after a hard three-part battle that's not in the manual, everything goes quiet... The first torch lights the path to Dracula, as the music begins, your pulse begins to quicken... First Castlevania game, this is still epic!

I love the Classic Castlevania series. Did not like the new ones because I felt betrayed that a Belmont became Dracula after fighting Satan. (That is so a rip-off of Diablo to me. I contain the evil in me and yet I become it later.) I still play all the Castlevania games to this day and will not stop.

I much as I love bombastic baroque music, I think they went a little too Malmsteen in the later games. I find SC lV to have a very dark and myserious atmosphere, whereas it got a little pop-ish later on.

The thing that got me the most was the way the music cuts to another theme when you have his health 3/4 of the way down its like saying you just F%^&ed up simon, it still make the hair on my arms stand up.
The grat thing about this track is that it sounds so depressing and hopeless and unsettling - you feel like you'ver allready lost the battle - realy genious!

Dracula's theme in Castlevania I ranks high up there. And yet the irony is Dracula has routinely been one of the easiest bosses in the series game after game. Oh well, if you had to focus on the actual battle, you wouldn't be able to enjoy the music.
I enjoy that you put the cover of the games. I think that adds to the nostalgia factor. Lots of these games I never got in a box either as I didn't get a super nintendo until after I had a PS2. Thank goodness for the local used game shop. I think I was their best customer as I would pick up a few SNES, NES, Genesis, or PSone games every week.

I will say this now, I love Illusionary Dance. It is a phenomenal arrangement, however, sometimes I feel it is a bit shallow when compared to this Dracula theme. Yes, Illusionary Dance is strong, vibrant and sinister but its showiness somewhat fails to differentiate itself from other boss themes (in general). The Dracula Battle theme here is oddly eerie and somber, and thus very fitting. This is the lord of darkness, and the end of your journey. This song and this battle transcends "catchy."

I don't really remember playing this as a kid or anything, but there's something about this song that fits Castlevania so perfectly. It makes me feel nostalgic without even remembering this part :P

It's music like this that goes well when it's late at night; you're alone in your room, you just reached Dracula and are battling him to the death. It's moments like that that add real flavor to your gaming experience!
Something funny about Konami's box art of that time, they all kinda look-alike. Well, at least, this one reminds me of Contra III. Good song, really good memories, btw XD
That's a ridiculous statement to make. There are too many quality SNES games for one game to stand out over every other game musically unless you just don't like SNES music in general.
Look it up. It's a weird platformer that wasn't too popular, but the music is very awesome. Let's just say that the composer deserves more credit.

Ah, one of the few truly good, atmospheric boss tracks in all of existence... Ah... I remember dieing so often on Dracula when I was little. I think part of the reason is that Dracula was NOT one of the oversized, slow bosses that you can dodge so easily.
Nice one, Supra. This is my 2nd favorite track from this musically wonderful game, the first already being on this list, Forest of Monsters.

As much as I like the newer handheld Castlevanias, there's something about the classic ones that's simply unmatched. I remember hearing this tune leading up to Dracula and also while fighting him, the level of tension was so great. The atmosphere was something else.
