My first videogame EVER
my story is exactly the same, I wanted Mario Kart, they recommended this due to a lack of MK64 in stock, and I recognized Diddy Kong from my cousin's SNES game, which was DKC, but at that time I didn;t know too much
And you got a better and more alive game than Mario Kart 64 ;)
Best VGM composer period. At least IMO, maybe my nostalgia goggles are on too tight but he is the best as far as Im concerned

I love it how the riffs in a lot of the DKR tracks are sourced from familiar tunes.. this one uses Rudolph the Red Nosed Raindeer, and Everfrost Peak riffs on the Brady Bunch theme song. As one of the top commenters puts it, best non-Japanese game ost. I listen to so much game music in my spare time and this is one of the few western osts in my rotation, others being amazing genesis tracks by the likes of Jesper Kyd and heard in Subterranea and Batman and Robin.

for some reason it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to beat this level on the silver coin challenge..i do it ....but i always endup 3rd or 4th......ahhhhhhhhhh

omg I LOVED this video game!!!! Sad that a lot of people only liked it for a while then that was it, I like it a lot! I actually played it more than Mario Kart 64 on N64 eventually. Really good game. A lot people think Banjo and Conker just came out of nowhere, and I'm always like, "HELLO??!!! Diddy Kong Racing!!!!"

A glorious game, though not a choice I'd go for first. This game. So great. I think that if the races had more laps, or longer courses, more courses, more items(?), or the AI was harder. . This would be the greatest racing game ever. That's the only reason I won't play anymore. And yet, I couldn't get enough of it in my younger days.
I got this game for Christmas. Every time I hear this song, I think back to 1997 and the first time I raced down this track against my Dad. Good stuff.
