Don't know about that. I played FFXI for 3 years through much of the end game content. It is a VERY ( I emphasize that for a reason) rough game, even after all these years. Very hard to get caught up on everything, very unforgiving with professions or just doing what you want. Now, I will say a positive or two was the class system. I enjoyed being able to do any class on 1 character (although playing catch up was rough and then doing the same zones over and over), atmosphere, and the music.
My friend played this game and said it was 10x better than WoW :)

The only Final Fantasy i'm playing right now is VI (thanks Virtual Console), one day i'll also get IV and possibly the first one too on NES. Maybe in the future i'll buy and play some others, but I also have games like Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger I have to get out of the way.

So, a question to everyone: I don't really like MMORPGs, but I have played every FF out there except for IX and the MMORPG ones. Should I play the MMORPGs? 'Cause they're mostly met with hate, but I've also heard some very positive things about them.

I really liked this game for the most part, I just didn't have the time to invest in it, or any MMO for that part. However, if I did play one again, it would probably be FFXI. The music is great, everything from the field music to all of the cities, Bastok, Duchy of Jeuno, and San d'Oria.
I disliked this game, but the music still ruled. I think though I might go back to the game and give it another try at some point.

I got to level 30 and became a dark knight on FF11. It was a good game. The Airship theme was SO, SO epic considering what you had to actually do to ride it. After all that hard work this theme was awesome.

And wandering around leveling up for ever in a game with no story is Final Fantasy? I've played all the FFs and beaten FF1-X, XII, and countless other RPGs. FFXI was a joke and a disgrace to the franchise. I'm not a big fan of MMORPGs and games like Dragon Quest because of their endless grinding. FFXI could have been so much better. Airships and castles were a big part of the series and would have been a perfect fit for an MMORPG.
In which FF game could you have airship battles, buy castles, have wars and that kind of stuff? Perhaps the reason you were dissapointed was because you had absolutely no idea what Final Fantasy was about?
haha FFXI was terrible. I made a clan for it back in 2000 a few years before it came out and we all were waiting but then the game sucked. It would have been awesome if you could have airship battles, by castles, have wars and that kinda stuff. MMORPGs in their current state are boring in my i.
