Back when I was five, I was sneaking around to play Pokemon Red. This didn't come around 'till I was nine, but I did it then, too. :)
I always felt sad when i had to leave this town to progress the game :(. Loved the music so much!

Eh, I've seen Mario called kiddy. Honestly though, the Pokemon games are all-ages fare, and as of gen V, they've been getting better. I honestly enjoy the series, and continue to hope they improve like B/W did.

Out of all the RPG's i've played, Pokemon has always had my favorite Town/Village music. It's a shame Gen V didn't pull me in as much.

@MrGoldPickle It's odd, I own a 3DS, yet just today I found myself returning to Pokemon Ruby. Weird. Playing old GBA Pokemons at night was the best part of childhood :)

I remember playing this all night during my childhood, beat it like ten times, then I got a DS played it even more, got a DSi, regretted selling my GBA and DS.

@masterplusmargarita I don't get the kids argument. I see tons of the little fuckers playing CoD all day, a supposed "mature" game. And the only people I ever hear really talking about how awesome pokemon is are older people or at least more mature people. I'd say pokemon's for older people. Aside from that, yeah Ruby and Sapphire are my favorite games as well. Something about gen 3 was just really great, can't put my finger on it.
God I remember growing up with just a Game Boy Color at age 6 playing pokemon Crystal and Yellow Versions. I got a Gameboy Advance for my 7th Christmas. I remember wanting Ruby Version so freaking bad but never getting it. Then my mom told me she'd buy any game I wanted for doing a good job helping us move to a new house. I chose this game and I haven't regretted it since. Fucking love this game <3

Im gonna cry this makes me so sad cuz i miss it....and i never beat the game...
I think these are the best games in the Pokemon series. For some reason, this generation gets very little love, but I have a lot of fun with it, and actually put them above the first gen games (Which are awesome). Also, Pokemon is for kids? Maybe. But I wouldn't call Mario exactly mature, and I've never seen HIS games called kiddie games, or mature people called inmature because of playing them. Pokemon is still one of the best series out there, admit it or not.

If I close my eyes and listen to this song I think of all great times I had playing pokemon... like when I saw my first shiny pokemon (a blue medicham), my first pokemon game (pokemon crystal), getting my first pokemon (cyndaquil), catching my first legendary (lugia), hatching my first shiny (shiny charmander), bicycling through this town... I get teary-eyed just thinking of all the great times

RSE is the best gen, Hoenn is just so much better than all other regions. Spent countless ours in Sapphire and emerald :)

Music has become one of the reasons I keep collecting Pokémon games. Another reason is that I just can't stop all of sudden... especially now when I'm going through my 10th anniversary of playing Pokémon. :D
I've lived and played through hall the regions of Pokemon, and yes as amazing as the first gen were, in my opinion, Hoenn was the best region and had the best music ;D

Well depending on how often you end up hearing this song in the game, it qualifies for a 'Best VGM.' I know I sure heard it a lot, and I really do associate nostalgia with it. Good game, not as perfect as some of the earlier Pokemon games...but it was different, in a way that made me play for a bit.
