Yeah, apparently Jackson was involved in composing for Sonic 2, but there was some sort of diffrence of opinion down the pipe and he wound up refusing to put his name on the end product. Too bad for him cause that is, frankly, kinda awesome.

@supernikopbelic The final boss theme has nothing to do with MJ or his sound team. The things him and his team allegedly did were Hydrocity, Marble Garden, Ice Cap, Carnival Night, Launch Bass, Miniboss, Competition, and Knuckles Theme. The rest were by the Japanese. I'm also currently in talks with one of MJ's sound team members, but I can't disclose who yet.
@dissident93 to me its pretty obvious what tracks he made. some of them have a note of complexity and others dont. for example, the final boss music. as awesome as that track is, im gunna say that that track is an original creaton from the sound guys. doesnt have that note of complexity, unlike ice cap zone for instance. I think the reason i can tell is because there's a deeper note in the bass in MJ composed tracks which i dont hear in others.
@supernikopbelic MJ was confirmed to been contacted for the job by a few people, SEGA confirmed it in the GENESIS collection for the PS3/360, and Brad Buxer confirmed it as well. It's not a rumor anymore, however how MUCH of MJ's original work remained in the game is up in the air at this point.
@ISIGunslinger you do have a point there, but for a rumour like this to exist, he had at the very least minimal access right? Anyways, even if its false, I will still believe it isnt. I mean, The King Of Pop deciding to make video game music? Now thats really having a connection with the fans.
@supernikopbelic i find it hard to believe, since the game was created in japan i doubt michael would do the music for the game, according to wikipedia MJ didnt want to be in the credits because he didnt get satisfied with his work, so his name shouldnt appear on the credits. anway if he did the music then it's awesome, if he didnt well... it's still awesome the music kind of remember me MJ style srry bad english D:

It's funny that the opening to this song always reminds me of breathing in a bubble or finding a bubble shield at the LAST SECOND and having the song kick back in. OKAY! Freak out time's over, time to enjoy myself.

@mascot1063 I am not going to say the music in Sonic games now a days are terrible, they just can not replicate that sound the music from the Genesis offered. This is why I can always come back to these old games.
So one thing I really adore about the music in Sonic 3 were the rifts and synthesizers they used. They really gave it an authentic Genesis feel. I mean you don't really get that feeling from games any more. The sound to me is probably one of the biggest factors of the Genesis era. It sort of has this static sound that just feels right, kind of listening to a record. Remember the beginning Sega intro in Sonic spinball? THe field music in Beyond Oasis?
Loved this game alot. In fact I'm going to go hook the ol' genesis back up to play it!
@MrAgnost Shouldn't "Hydrocity" rhyme with "atrocity" (which is the "ss" way of saying it)? Just because it contains word roots doesn't mean that they always pronounced the same way. example: the "vac-" in vaccum and vacant are pronounced differently.

I went back and played through the old trilogy not long ago to see if the games lived up to my memories, and yeah, whatever Sonic might be now, the first three games, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic CD, and Knuckles Chaotix are still unimpeachable. The rest are hit or miss... I did mostly like Sonic Rush.
