Possibly one of the best and cleanest soundtracks on the system... still makes me cry after almost 30 years.
This tracks sounds like melancholia, loneliness and sadness... Superb!!!

It's so bittersweet. I didn't play this game as a kid, but something about it makes me want to cry. Reminds me of the Terminator theme.

Truly a special theme this, one of the greats. This theme means alot to me, even as a kid i could tell it was something special. From the awesome build up at the beginning that just gets behind you, it drives you into the awesome adventure that was the world. It's richer than anything around at the time (and still now), that touch of melancholy but excitement, man what a song. To me the build up at the start and the whole thing says 'you know what?, screw it, let's get to the awesome part and stay there because it's awesome'. There's a feeling of freedom in the song. Anyway just thought i'd comment on prob the most iconic super turrican song :)

Definitely. Give this vocals, extend it a bit, and it could literally sound like an 80s synthpop song. I'd have no clue it was even an SNES track if no one told me.

It's cool that Super Turrican and Mega Turrican have such different styles to their songs, yet the same songs are playing in either game.
I'm gonna be 'that guy' and refer you to the definitive Turrican game soundtracks, found on the Commodore Amiga 500 home computer versions. Well, I didn't see anyone else say it on this comments thread yet. You'll find the Super Turrican soundtrack is pretty much the same as Turrican 3 on Amiga.
In some aspects, I prefer the way some of the songs sound on the SNES and the way they sound in the Amiga/Genesis version.
True, though the Turrican 3 Amiga soundtrack is kinda weak honestly. I blame the very confusing development process! :o
Youre right in that the quality of 2's soundtrack raised the bar perhaps higher than could reasonably be expected to be met, however I still think it beats the console renditions of the same game, though the SNES version is good and MegaDrive version sounds amazing given the limitations on the platform.

Why does this theme gets to me so much?
I think it's a theme that kind of speaks to long time Turrican fans as well as on an emotional level. It has something of an "end of the trilogy" feel.

Late to answer but the megadrive sounds good in game but the SNES version i actually listen to while out doing whatever it is i find myself doing
Eh this version is OK, but for 1 thing, its to slow, The genesis version seams faster, and this also isnt that loud, probibly because of the added bass.
One of the few games where I would play just to hit certain stages (like this one), find a safe spot to stand, and listen in awe. Thanks SD!

Song is amazing and hilarious at the same time. My friends and i typically make parody lyrics about Jesus making us food and many other things. Lately, it's been "Big Ass Monkey" when 0:46 starts playing. Long story, it's just an awesome theme that you can sing almost anything with.
@SupraDarky Too bad Factor 5 went under. Just look at Rouge Squadron for the Gamecube...that too was very impressive for 2001!

Amen to that. Air Ride is one of the best. I notice that the tempo for a lot of the Turrican 3 and Super Turrican tracks is a bit slower than in the original Mega Turrican version. This one and the Amiga version of this track are good examples. Long live Turrican.

Possibly the best in the game. The Genesis "Mega Turrican" version of this is also awesome. I actually enjoy the Mega Turrican soundtrack more than the two SNES Turrican OSTs even considering the audio capabilities of the Genesis were inferior to the SNES. This and Stage 3-1's theme from "Mega Turrican" are great.
I like all the music from Turrican. I especially liked all the music from the 1st stage in this game!
Having Dolby Surround was pretty impressive at that time. Factor 5 always tries to push the technology.
