I wish you could use squawks for the whole level, it would be so easy.
I don’t like levels where the game paces you, however, Castle Krush wasn’t that bad personally. In this level, I have trouble with maintaining speed with Rattly to survive jumping sections.

One of the most funnest ass dam video games of all time. So much frustration. So much strategizing. So much triumph. So much failure. So much thill. Such bad ass music. Such a variety of obstacles. This game truly did justice to the first DKC. Word. This music let you know shit just got real in one of the last levels of the video game before you had to go battle K. Rool.

What a perfect song. You can sense the adventure at the beginning but then the pace and sound change to a more medieval dangerous tune, fitting totally for a castle.

In "Toxic Tower," I did never press on the "A" button with a snake, I did know. But the some part in the song (1:12) I was inspired not to give up.

As the men and women rose to their feet, with honor draped across their backs. Their metal armor clanking as the commander shouted, "ONWARD, FOR GLORY!!! Only the bellowing of fire upon the outer gate could be heard, along with the screeching of the terrible creatures! The gates came crashing down with wisps of fire! Massive slithering creatures, their wings flapping only encouraging the fires! The knights gripped their shields, "FOR HUMAN KIND, SLAY THESE FOWL BEASTS!!!"

I love how this song starts dark and full of tension and suspense, and as long as you advance through the Toxic Tower, the music turns more and more epic and encouraging, almost as if it's rewarding you for surviving and got so far. David Wise is a genius.

As said above David Wise did this game. You might be thinking of DK64, which Grant Kirkhope did indeed do.
This song shows that Grant Kirkhope was almost definitely influenced by David Wise when composing music for Banjo Kazoo and Donkey Kong 64.

Nah, Screech's Sprint isn't nearly as bad as long as you're good at controlling Squawks. The first half is hard, before the race itself, but it's also pretty short. Chain Link Chamber on the other hand, is way too long, has a checkpoint barrel in a spot you could very conceivably miss, and is based entirely around the finicky-ass climbing controls :P

Meanwhile Toxic Tower ended up being a roadblock that took literal *years* for me to clear.

This might be my favorite song from the DKC series, it's just awesome. It's intense, exciting and adventurous and doesn't get the credit it deserves.

So many lives lost Toxic Tower level...
Toxic Tower is one of the easiest levels in the game. Castle Crush, and Chain Link Chamber are much harder.
@FreakingAngryPirate I think Chain Link Chamber is a piece of cake (compared to the other two), and Castle Crush is kinda hard, but manageable (and very fun to play).
How hard the level is depends on how you cope with the level mechanics, for me Toxic Tower and Castle Crush I didn't lose many lives because I prefer the race against the clock levels. Levels with Wind I most certainly don't like which is why I think Windy Well is the hardest level in the main game (excluding Lost World)

Such a penultimate feel from 1:12 and onward. It's when you know you're almost done with the game. Very bittersweet, and a breeding ground for those chills down your spine.

This song fits perfectly as you are in a castle, enemies, are so tough and you get the intense feeling from the music. The music that starts at 1:15 says you can do it, you can beat this hard level.
