universally accepted as one of the best PS games of all time.
The only major problem I have with this game is the camera angle, especially when on the colossi. It makes it hard to see properly. Other than that, this game is brilliant.
Oh, when games didn't need mindless shooting to be quality... I love this music though

Just beat this game for the first time, and I'm with you. It has my favorite video game soundtrack, too. Well, it's either SOTC or Mario Galaxy.
Similar to a bash.org comment I've read, I once had this song start playing on my iPod as I went to use a urinal. It was the most epic non-epic thing ever.

On the hardest difficulty, this was by far the hardest colossus in the game.

There are birds too :D Exploration is my favorite part of pretty much every game that its possible in... But not in SotC. It wasn't even the monotony, it's just that everything looked so similar that if I went the wrong way it took too much time finding my way back, so it was generally quicker just to restart and try another path.
Whenever I hear the moment 0:00 - 1:15, I think of the following situation: A battlefield where, on one side, there are heroes from video games and on the other one are the greatest villains for games. Then, they engage in epic duel, of which poems will be sung!
I agree game was epic, but technical wise it wasn't anything special. The very idea was excellent, but there are better looking games for ps2.
this game was the definition of epic when it was released. one of the few ps2 games that really demands a ps3 remake since it pushed the ps2's technical abilities so hard.
A remake in ps3 with 60 fps must be EPIC.

Shadow of the Colossus was a very, very Hayao Miyazaki experience.
About the controls, well you can change them, I instinctly remapped jump to X, and horse to triangle, that felt more natural for me. It was more of a beautiful, atmospheric experience than a game for me, that's why I'm so forgiving of it's faults, I love it XD
i'm beating the game this weekend because on monday i'm going to sell it again. the controlls are a pain in the ***. i paid so much for it. it looked so promising: huge bosses, great atmosphere, impressive soundtrack but the controls killed it for me...
Funny thing; For me, it was the tiny giants that were a huge pain in my ass.
This is probably my favorite song in the game, besides A Violent Encounter, and Demise of the Ritual. You took too long to add a SotC song, the whole soundtrack is just epic. XD

Epic stuff, like the rest of the OST, but I like this track better. /watch?v=GrFL2zPc2uk&fmt=18 It's in the same vein but it sounds more defeated, more inquisitive. As if it's trying to tell Wander what he is doing isn't the right thing, but he isn't listening. ... I talk too much.

I can see why people liked the game but I found it far too repetitive. It did have an epic soundtrack though. :)

Awesome game. really awesome. when it was all over i just wanted more.. more story.. what happened next.. what was the background for it all, and so forth. I must say though the Opened way is more epic! swift horse is nice too. ;) Bah lets just face it, the soundtrack is awesome ^^

I agree with you. That is by far my favorite fight. Riding your horse and jumping from it to mount the collosus never gets old. It also has my favorite song from the game playing while doing so :P
Counterattack is such a fantastic song. This song is my second favorite of the game.

Only one song from SotC so far? Be ashamed! The Opened Way, Counterattack, Epilogue, Prologue, Demise of the Ritual and Memories (PAL bonus track) should all be in the list as well, but Revived Power is indeed still one of my favourites. When it's used during the fight with Basaran (#9) it just blew me away.
This game really frustrated me on back 9 colossi but the battles were always epic with fitting music. Favorite boss was the bird that flew above water. That was one of those "holy shit" moments.

it was time :) to put up some sotc track it's one of the greatest soundtrack ever made :) my friends and I made a little poll last week regarding the best vgm ever made, and it went first. it's a huge poll, only in hungarian so that would be difficult to read :D
