Best thing about this fight: The fact that no side was just evil (like in most JRPGs these days), but the "antagonist" had good reasons for doing what he intended to do. Yuri and co. had good reasons though to stop him too... ...Why can't they make stories and character like these anymore? (yeah I played and loved Persona 5, but Yuri was an awesome protagonist)
That's why having an anti-hero (which Kato fits perfectly) in a story is way better than just having a normal villain. It immediately creates a way deeper and more memorable story. Kato is definitely my favorite antagonist ever (in my eyes, only Satan from Milton's poem Paradise Lost, who was basically the first modern anti-hero, can match him), just because he has not even a single ounce of evil in him (unlike Satan in Paradise Lost). Everything he does, he does for a completely understandable reason, considering all the tragedy he had to endure in his personal life, and all the cruelty he saw in the world during the war (and one might even argue that the world would have been a better place if he had succeeded). All that makes him the perfect anti-hero

@Grissom Apparently he didn't. But it doesn't matter as Karen and Yuri were both sent to the past so it still loops the same as before except this time (and I hope) Yuri succeeds on saving Alice.
This is the main reason why I prefer Jrpg over western ones. Most western games used to feature the usual absolute good vs absolute evil trope. And in many jRPG we have villains who are only evil depending on perspective, or there was that one villain who became warped into what he became over time, and things like that. Dragon Quest being an obvious exception to that, since it also feature the classic good vs evil battles. IN time we had more elaborate stories in western games and now I can play some of them, but I used to really avoid them.

The feeling entering this final fight. Intense awesomeness. It was real tough the first time. Lets see took 4 hours to beat and me or Susano-o would die. But when giving that final blow. It felt amazing. That the long 2 disc journey has finally ended. It is a good final fight. Good song making it even more intense. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Schoolroy I may have broken the game back when i first beat it. had to redo the fight cos i won in maybe 4 turns? Seraphim buff and lucia buff followed by team attacks etc :S

This reminds me a bit of Chaotic Dance from Baten Kaitos, one of my favorites from that game. Unfortunately I never played any from this series, but the music is just great! Thanks Supra for introducing me to this series music. This will now be going to my faves...

It's not to say FF is bad. But I can really agree that Shadow Hearts has a more compelling story and all around better soundtracks.. really wish I had went through Wild Arms during my "RPG prime"

@MMDE SH has a more interesting story if only because both sides of the conflict have valid reasons to do the things they do (Specially Simón since he was right all along: Humans are the real monsters)
Shadow Hearts needs to come back, with battle themes like this. Shadowhearts Covenant has some of the best battle themes I know of to date. No contest.

@EdoCrabo i actually agree to this and it's called preference. FF is always the go to when someone mentions JRPG... I disagree.... Legend of Dragoon Last Story Xenoblade Chronicles Pandora Tower ( a bit irritating but good) So many good JRPG's overshadowed and overlooked due to FF's name alone. And it's damn near criminal. Hell FF7 Remake is getting praise DESPITE glaring issues and the new hype blinding them. i for one cannot help but hate the fact ONE summon PER BATTLE . No more W- summon and quadra magic spam of K.OTR , Hell materia aren't born , requiring you to buy more with already dwindling pile of gil, the only thing it is is flashy...jazz hands to pacify the audience. " It looks good!!" About the only thing it does well honestly. It's flashy, i didn't realize i was playing FFXV redux. Hell i am half expecting released DLC of ragnarok having Cloud use warpstrike.

@VGKing if you could actually hear the words it would not only cheapen the music it would change/lose the feel the artist was trying to acheive, dont question any music in FF7,FF8, vagrant story, shadow hearts 1 or shadow hearts 2, otherwise you will get cut

isn't there a way to get the in-game song? The singing part is longer and the instruments used are different... like the Imbroglio from the OSTis different from the in-game one

If only the final boss were memorable. I hated that guy and his motives. This track, however, more than made up for his shortcomings. Goddamn, was I hyped.
The second one was truly fucking quality amazing but let me tell you the first one holy fucking shit what that game was in disguise omg.
