Well tbh I can understand it. The first 1:40 is filler, the latter half is all over the place. It's just not a particularly good track. And I've liked most of the CV themes so far on this playlist. This just isn't all that great.
hearing a masterpiece like this just reminds me how MAD i am for how castlevania became last gen on the PS3.. total GoW clone rubbish with crap music.. Goddamit Konami.. i wanted a 3d castlevania game with music like this!

Try King's Field IV: The Ancient City for PS2. It's got the most haunting soundtrack and visuals I have ever experienced in a game. Plus, even though the combat system is still clunky and the graphics pretty basic, it's miles ahead of the older King's Field games.

By far, one of my favorite, if not my most favorite, out of the series. The newest one for the Xbox360 puts all of castlevania to shame, sadly.

Actually, it would. The older games didnt have it. and they were still castlevania games.
@sinituuke Yeah, L.O.I rocked. Curse of Darkness was good, too. Little bit deeper in terms of the RPG elements. If you haven't picked it up, you should. Also, if you liked the combat, you should check out Devil May Cry 3 (if you haven't already). It's ridiculously hard, but equally as awesome. Great music, good story and spectacular combat :)

I've been playing turn-based games my entire life, and decided I need to broaden my horizons a little, still staying on the RPG grounds. First I tried Kingdom Hearts. I was very bad at it, which discouraged me greatly. Then I got Lament of Innocence. I was amazed by its smoothness from the very start and how enjoyable it got as I advanced, and how little practice it required even from a clumsy beginner like me. Cutscenes were kind of silly, though, but music was sheer dynamite.

Same here, I got this game as a gift (even though I never asked for it) and I said, what the hell, popped it in and was blown away by this theme, especially it being the theme of the first level. I had the beat the game by then.
What would you call that repetitive, distant echoing sound in the background during0:27-1:38? Surely it's not an instrument in the traditional sense, but I've heard the effect in enough songs now that it must (or should) have a name. Anyway, whatever it is, it's great!
