Man, I was so excited cuz I made it to the western hemisphere, cruising the western desert listening to the cool melodic MS tune and suddenly...out of nowhere! this gigantic black aircraft carrier!! coming from nowhere (I was thinking how is that possible? this thing so huge how come I never saw it coming?) and this song played....tis' ended in complete demise and almost made me start all over again, loved this game so much.

Metal Saga is more like the re-make/ re-imagining of Metal Max 1. Much how like Minstrel Song: Romancing Saga was for the original Romancing Saga.
Not really, it seems to be a side game that takes place after the first game since Noah's Defeat in MM1/Returns is mentioned here
u know what really sucks in this game.. first is u powned a outlaws so hard in the ass like ur so overpowered or the other is ur one butt was kicked hard and you have no chance so in this game dont hard fights and tacticly fights not exist thats a shame

Yeah, the one known as "Nova Blast" has both Decisive Battle and this theme intermingled. However, he uses this melody for at least one other song, which I imagine to be a direct remix for it.
i'm pretty sure that this was combined with a FF battle theme in that particular remix, which is the better known song out of the two

Never knew a Metal Max game was localised in NA. Gotta check for this one. To bad the DS games will never go outside Japan. Gotta wait a couple of years to see good toll to emulate rom on DS with translation patch.

you know what's most sad about this...i played metal max 1 when i was a little kid and it was my very first RPG game. years after, i no longer remember the title of the game, but i still faintly some sound track and some story arc. this sound track brings back SO MUCH memory... im just pissing mad now that i totally missed out on metal saga(no promotion or whatsoever? even shadowheart got more screen time than this...)

@eduardocool Funnily enough they seem to use original soundtrack from NES Metalmax in every Metalmax game. That's what I've sorta noticed.

This game was AWESOME! It's too bad it's the only one we've seen in NA so far. Let's hope the DS one is just as good if not better (and comes to the States!)

No. As I said, when you win, you basically break Scarlet, whom is discovered to be a battle android similar to a special character unlockable after another Mark hunt. You take her to a female scientist in one of the cities that you can ferry too, and she get's converted into a CPU unit for your tanks.
She can cripple a tank (aka, break a section) with one shot of her Anti-tank rifle. So yes.
She's the final mark in the game. You absolutely have to be lv 200 to even barely survive fighting her. You need all the best gear, the highest level of shiny coat for your war dog and never ride in the tank. IF, and this is a very very big IF, you beat her, you find out she's actually an android. Taking her to the female scientist in one of the cities, I forget which, will turn her into the best CPU in the game.

You know, now I know where the battle theme for Mega Man 2: Dues Ex Machina came from. It was this song, great song.
Woah woah woah, wait a minute, Metal Max(Only in Japan for SNES) is Metal Saga but in remake form? Because this is the boss music from Metal Max, or whatever it's called.
The chord progression is very similar to Cliffs of Dover, if you ask me.
