The ghostship that came out of nowhere, the super thick mist, and this music. One of the best parts in Grandia 1. And as a side note, Grandia 1 have one of the longest story gaming time ever. The best part starts here: 0:45

So, after my friend and I finished practicing Gustav Holst's 'Mars' and Johann de Meij's 'Gandalf,' I decided to put this song on for my friend and see what he had to say. Two minutes in, when I told him it was from a video game from the 90's his jaw dropped. The idea that someone could write music for a video game that was more classical sounding than video game sounding blew his mind (and he's played LOTS of Final Fantasy. Eat that FFVII!).
It was a big deal back in the day to have music in a game performed by an actual orchestra. I'm not a big Grandia fan but I'll admit that pieces like this made a big difference in-game.

@jedichik I've never played the game, but I agree with you about the music. Orchestral themes are pretty standard in RPGs today, but even by today's standards this is incredibly sophisticated. Reminds me more of Tchaikovsky than Uematsu.

I started to play Grandia and figured the music would be pretty standard rpg music fare. But having the symphonic music within the game blew me away! Definitely adds to the whole adventure theme of the game, making it twice as epic. Probably explains why I love the DQVIII soundtrack so much too.

I'm pretty sure Stereo is now defaulted even in Normal Quality a couple hours after the upload! It's not as good as the fmt=18 stereo quality, but it's still WAY better than mono! :)
I never did finish Grandia *sigh* I was working on finishing the Tower of Temptation. Such a sweet game, though!
