I loved this music as soon as I heard it. I thought at the time that the whole soundtrack was phenomenal but this one just stood out. Love it!

Yeah it definitely sucks that I've sold it. I read today Baten Kaitos 3 was cancelled years ago and the dev want to develop Baten Kaitos 3 again. Unfortunately Namco owns it :(

This must be the same composer who made the "Spyro the Dragon" soundtracks. It sounds too much the same style! It's funny how you can pinpoint composers no matter who or for what they compose for.

The soundtrack for the Spyro games, at least the earlier ones, were all actually composed by Stewart Copeland, the drummer for The Police.

You're missing out, the music alone makes this an amazing game. Then when you add the unique battle style and amazing plot it just makes for a seriously solid rpg, I highly recommend it.
@yamiryushi You forgot to mention the terrible voice acting. Well, truth be told the voice acting is good, but the bizarre effect they put over it for no reason is terrible.
@immortalfrieza What annoyed me is the "right you are *blank for you for a few seconds* blah blah"....I mean, I get that you get to name your character but voice acting in that situation is a bad thing lol
@yamiryushi They should have just had everybody refer to you as "the guardian spirit" or something like that and inserted the name you chose in the text in the spot where that line should have been.
@immortalfrieza Very true, just say guardian spirit instead of blank spot and put your name on text. Definitely would have made a great difference.
@yamiryushi The worst thing? The people who made this game actually thought the whole thing with the voices was a GOOD idea. Whenever somebody puts something in a game, TV show, movie, or whatever that this incredibly obviously idiotic I always question how somebody somewhere along the line doesn't stop and go "this is a REALLY fucking stupid idea" and actually allow it to go through.
@immortalfrieza That was actually planned? Wow....either they were all really stupid or the people that HAD a brain also had it to not speak out in fear of losing their job. But then again, after that god awful pacman...maze....acid trip........thing....stage....yeah....its not surprising they were a little nuts in the dev department lol
@yamiryushi I don't know about the gap in voice when your name is stated, but I do know the crappy sound quality of the voices was done deliberately, apparently under the logic that you're an otherworldly spirit and thus you must be hearing people talk in a sort of blurred far away manner. Still a terrible idea anyway.
@immortalfrieza funny thing, i actually even like that bizarre effect in the dialogue lol IDK, it kinda feels weird in a good way for me and is also a quite distinctive touch in my memory i got from this game (like with Lloyd's "demon fang!" over & over & over with TOS stuck in my head XD) ... but then again english is my second language so i may not feel the voice acting as "just painfull" but more like funny and chessy XD

Yeah, 8 and 9 were both underrated. And the series is still alright, it's just gotten weak as of late in coincidence to Nobuo Uematsu`s disappearance.

Certainly not, especially if you're counting 13 and 12. 7's cool, but is excessively reputed to the point of being over-appreciated and doesn't need me to speak for it. 8 was underrated, and 10 all around has gotten what it deserves in terms of its general regard. The glorious implications of their elaborate plots might be too much for you to learn to appreciate, unless you're referring to a different series...

I haven't played this game in awhile but every so often this song stilll randomly starts playing in my head. It's so ambient and captivating! I love it. And this game is soo unique from the plot, characters, everything. Is Baten Kaitos Origins as good? I still need to get that.

I would definitely recommend getting one! : ) They are pretty cheap now, compared to the newer game systems I brought my gamecube with me to college so I can play while procrastinating on homework, haha!

I watched my friend play this game and was amazed at how fun it looked
(part 2) this one has SPOILERS; but some points I want to share the witches knew about xelha and that's how they managed to tell savyna to go the celestial tree. Malpercio isn't really a god, but an incarnation of 6 warriors (in an event in origins). the witches doesn't really use magic at all, but either sacred items or magnus extracts. it's stuff like this that really makes the whole plot come together. and very few games actually does that.
(part 1) really?...I say the game did a great job in creating distinct and unique environments. Namco went for an exagurated universe where cities are divided by literal skypassages (how often do you see this in a jrpg?) you got the wonderful mira with a city made purely out of treats etc etc, every area is distinct. while the story seemed farfetched and how "fate" was a drive for the plot, everything actually happened in a coherent manner.
it's really one the greatest works namco has ever done.. if you give the game time you'll notice how rich the universe and the characters are..and while the voicework was really really bad, the script worked wonders
without giving us a clear answer to that, it is vaguely explained that using the wings takes alot of your strenght and makes you weary. it is really apparent after kalas and xelha take on giacomo at the beginning of the game. they have to sit and rest straight after and they are grunting. so using it for small things would be a bad trifle at length. baten kaitos origins pisses on that one though, one can say the wings of the heart might have been stronger back then. just a little speculation lol
I know this game!!!! A friend of mine had the game and I thought it was too awesome, then I could not find it anywhere. Once I have some more time on my hands, I might as well go hunting for it.

Ugh... this game... erm... how do i say this politely... They went waaaaay the hell off the fantasy deep end with this one. I cant believe that i forced my self to even complete the story line. After i wound up in a village made of frosting I kinda lost all hope... meh. Decent tunes though. Oh well, they cant all be all-stars.
this song gave me headaches, but i still kinda liked it. very memorable.
The twist in this game hit me like a ton of bricks, and still stands as the BEST twist in video game history for me. MOVE OVER BIOSHOCK!

My band played this at an outdoor show in the town's square, once. I had so much fun with that bass line.

@CinnabonChan Fire Emblem is also a strong RPG on the GCN, and Star Ocean I think there´s one on it, as well as Phantasy Star Online. And they all are freaking great, which I respect, for there´s no way anyone´d buy a bad RPG on GCN ^^

I hated that tower. I swear I spent more time in that area than anywhere else. I kept screwing up with the puzzles. I started out liking this music, then began to hate it. now that I've gone awhile without hearing it I'm okay with it again.

There's obviously a lot more to do in mmorpg's, but I liked the storyline and even the strange card fighting style in Baten Kaitos. The characters were different and the voices amused me :) Not gonna lie...I had a game crush on PaloloII HAHA! But yeah lotro is a lot like Wow I hear. I heard it's stealing a lot of wow's constumers because they switch to lotro
@Zephryion Really? I love those type of 'choose you're own adventure' type rpgs :) Baten Kaitos was my favorite rpg. I've never heard of Skies before, I'll have to check it out, thanks : D I was playing FFXI and that was a great mmorpg, but it got costly with the pay per month, so now I'm playing lotro. It's the best free mmorpg I've found. :)

I tried playing this game, but when the party came across a log and had to turn around because it was blocking their way my suspension of disbelief was shattered. The characters have freaking WINGS. Can't they just hop over the log?
when hearin this great melody its hard to just listen once, i find myself wanting to always hear it a second time around because its that damn good.
Mira...such a beautiful world....this is the ONLY gamecube game I saved...I keep it with all my PC and 360 games and people are like "Why do you have this game in here?" and I say "Because its not a game, its a story, and a masterpiece at that" Thank you Tri-Crescendo for one of the most beautiful games I've ever played.

Skies of Arcadia is one of my three favorite RPGs, along with Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6. I might like Skies a bit more than the other two, though... Such an awesome game.
Gamecube had hardly any RPGs, but the few it got were very special. Skies of Arcadia, Baten Kaitos and Tales of Symphonia were all awesome games, the PS2 had a lot of RPG slurry along with its gems, I must admit.
Second best RPG on Gamecube. And nothing can come close to Tales of Symphonia, so it's moot to vie for first place.

man. this game actually has a very very good cast of characters... I mean only the main character Kalas is interesting as hell, and savyna..don't even get me started. and xelha is one of the most underrated heroines of all time..
I'm replaying BK and I'm on my way to Mira. Ah Mira. There will never be another country like Mira in any game. House of Cards is a better title for this track if you ask me, since Mira does have a very Alice in Wonderland feel to it, ya?

No dude BK was great. Both of 'em. They were lengthy and had fantastic comment. The story was excellent despite some weak voice acting which is why some people didn't like the game.
I HATED, HATED this game. But the soundtrack (Although way too short and over-used) was easily one of Sakuraba's best. This Mira music was so trippy. Deserved to be in a better game, IMO. (like the countless ones BK ripped off.)
It also felt nice getting a "good-bye" from the characters at the end :)
