Its actually great (Lol me replying to a 4 year old post) but its not far different from the Commodore version except when Edna talked more "dirty" in the Commodore 64 version. But they are both great and you'll enjoy the NES soundtrack and originality of the game.

Man this theme is just the absolute BEST! That guitar jazz lack where it changes keys around 1:15 is so damn funky! Someone needs to do a real life cover of this. Without completely fucking it up, of course.

@thefriendsociety The movie reminds me of the 80s movie The Burbs. On drugs. A depressed talking tentacle who wants to start his own rock band, a radioactive meteor who by game's end gets his own talk show, the galaxy police, a microwavable hamster, a mummified uncle who spends his time in the shower, etc. There is so much random stuff in this game that no matter what the quality of the film was, it would have definitely attracted a loyal, die hard fan base.
this song makes me want to travel in a timemachine, back to the first time i played this classic. The music is phenomenal

This game is amazing and this is probably my favorite video game song next to the "Athletic" Theme from Yoshi's Island. My name also happens to be Dave which makes this extra cool haha. But yeah the game was amazing, it had multiple endings, and story arcs depending upon who you picked. Me and my friend sat down and beat it one day, with Dave & Michael (the photographer). Michael developed some film or something which led the plot in a totally different direction. Awesome,awesome game.

Maniac Mansion could have been an absolute classic if it was adapted for the big screen. I mean, the game's plot was basically one giant reference toward's the beloved B-movies of the 80's. A mysterious meteor sets off a mad doctor to kidnap the high school "it" as he tries to steal her brain and set off armageddon. Her boyfriend and his two best friends set off to rescue her from evil. Jesus. Think about it. This film would have been the cult classic to end all cult classics.
The Dave's theme was my favorite! It sounds very "new wave".

This was a great game. I remember working on a sequel to this game on that started with the Meteor escaping from space prison, but then I was just a kid so it was all on line paper and sketch books.

I was always partial to Razor's theme myself, not sure why,. This song brings back the memories more though. I remember overwriting my brother's save file at the start of the game, when he had nearly finished it... he wasn't happy :P
I was always a bigger fan of Sid's theme. (I think that's his name, anyway. Wasn't Sid the blonde guy with sunglasses who could, like Razor, play the piano?
