This theme instantly brings nostalgia. The freedom of flying around the ship and discovering new floating islands was just perfect and gave me that same sense of wonder as a game like Wind Waker. If I was Sega, it would be an easy decision to simply release an HD version on all platforms.

I'd be down for HD versions. I've always heard good things about this game, I've just never had a Gamecube.

Kenji Hiruta (one of the Main developers of Skies of Arcadia) made a petition on Twitter with the fans to bring into fruition one sequel. He would bring the papers to SEGA. I hope he can achieve it. But I fear sequels, they ruin the original design many times. Also, best game of all time for me.

With a lower encounter rate. The amount of random battles and how slow they were turned me off to the game. If they fixed those two things in a rerelease, we golden

Man even the ship themes are lore in themselves. This one is so pleasant and naive, just pirates thwarting imperial scum. Little Jack is more intense thanks to the shocking developments while still keeping that adventure. And then finally the Delphinius is just pure power with understanding the stakes at hand and signaling that the adventuring has taken a backseat.

Still one of my favorite games of all time. It's a crying shame this game never got the attention it deserved. Thanks for putting it on this list so many times Supra! Recommendation/Request for the next time you feature this game: Boss Battle Theme, Ramirez Battle theme, or the Epilogue theme.

Yup. I guess they chose to emphasise the world with the Western title, but I rather like the original more, I think. It just sounds more mystical.

This is such an underrated game. I remember getting the urge to listen to the soundtrack and telling my husband, "Man. Skies of Arcadia was so good," and he asked me, "What's Skies of Arcadia?" What's Skies of Arcadia...My husband is a hardcore gamer, so that made me realize just how underrated this gem really is. I introduced him to Skies. He introduced me to Vagrant Story and Radiata Stories. Can all of these games just get ported or remade already?

All Skies of Arcadia's overworld themes are great. This one has a feel of just starting your adventure and the simple joy of sailing. Then you have the Little Jack theme which ramps up the excitement, and plays when you're starting to explore new lands and take on the bad guys for the first time. Finally the Delphinus theme which is the most majestic and serious, reflecting how much the stakes have risen in the story, while still having the wanderlust of the earlier themes as you explore the furthest reaches of the sky.

I remember coming from school then playing this game almost everyday, the sense of adventure in this game has never been replicated until I played Zelda: BotW in 2017! The amount of charm, beautiful music & the battles both with the characters & the airships were all one of a kind. I remember the island that you can build & grow at some point, in BotW there was also a town like that. I hope one day we get a sequel or at least a remake or at least even a freaking port lol top 5 best RPGs for me to this day :)

You ever come across a Nintendo guy who has to compare every RPG protag ever to Link, or any racing game ever to F-Zero, and so on because they just have no other scope besides Nintendo? Final Fantasy fans are pretty close. Don't be that guy.

@The Okayed Boomer I've seen Game Informer compare it to FF7 I think (wish I could dig up the issue, but it was a feature about DC being discontinued and which games were best), because it was one of the first cinematic 3D RPGs along with it, but they felt it was even better and one of SEGA's best games. Me, I just wish SE put their games on the machines too (something that never happened at any point unlike many other big companies) =/

I bear Vyse's design for the Delphinus flag as a tattoo on my chest. I've had it for about 7-8 years now and not a single person has ever recognized it, makes me kinda sad.

Why they haven't ported this game to Switch yet is beyond me. I'd buy it instantly if they did.
