Breath of the Wild had such an amazing sense of scale and adventuring. I remember seeing Rito Village from super far away and deciding to head straight for it. It felt like a journey, going through various terrain obstacles and monsters, spending many nights by the fire outside, and then finally arriving at the destination. As you approach, you slowly start hearing the soothing village theme as if it's welcoming you after the harsh road (and as a bonus, a rendition of Wind Waker's Dragon Roost Island). BOTW is all about these kind of moments.

I'm ashamed it took me a minute to realize this was dragon roost island while I was playing the game. I had to be told! Lol

Now this is how you not only remix a beloved theme in the series but add your own relaxing and homely feel too it! Breath of the Wilds soundtrack in general was a+ all around!

Honestly, to me this could be any song from any game. If BOTW wasn't in the video title, I wouldn't have noticed where it was from.

Oh this soundtrack has so many great songs! I haven't played BOTW itself yet, but I can't wait!! I know the music can be sparse, that sounds like a bummer, but I still can't wait to hear this in game! (Officially my favourite Zelda song :D )

Dragon Roost island was my favorite song in windwaker by a long shot and to hear it in this makes me so happy. Song is gorgeous.

It's strange. Breath of the wild had a marvellous atmosphere that lingered in my thoughts for days or even weeks after playing. Music contributed to that greatly, and yet, the tracks aren't nearly as catchy as in the past. They're great, but completely forgettable somehow. And yet to this day, I can still recall tracks from the older games by heart and hum them during my day. Anyone else feel this way? Why do you think this happens?

Nostalgia probably. The games from the past probably imprinted on you as a child so you remember those more. I am the same way.

This game also went for that style of soundtrack, it isn't as bombastic and in your face, now it takes the backseat and builds the environment. But honestly, I remember these songs well enough, especially this one

I think the adventurous atmosphere of games like twilight princess and wind waker had a pretty big impact on my childhood along with their upbeat soundtracks. Botw's soundtrack is great nonetheless but it feels like its trying to blend in with the atmosphere itself rather than acting as bgm. A lot of the tracks have a calm ambience to them which fits with the setting of the story so I guess it was intended that way. Like this song as an example being a chilled out version of dragon roost island lol

Is it backtracking? OOT was really small, and you had to visit some places multiple times (and I've completed those games like twenty times...) I haven't played the game yet, but this game has my favourite Zelda OST! Probably because it's so atmospheric!
