The original being my favorite 2D Zelda, I was cautiously excited for this remake. It looked great, but I couldn't shake the feeling the original's atmosphere might get lost starting with the music. The Face Shrine is the perfect theme to check if the unique ambience is retained and I can only be happy with the result. Nagamatsu obviously had respect for this particular theme with his awesome decision to keep the original's motif Gameboy-style. I'm now officially hyped to go through this adventure once again.

I just can't get over the look of the game. Most likely will just stick with the original. The starting cutscene showing Link out at sea got me super hyped, til they showed the game. Not for everyone!

It's just a square lead, I'd prefer something better-sounding than what's in there. I mean a nicer square lead. Keeping a similarly-timed delay effect would suffice to keep the "ambience", apart from the same arp sequence, which is present.

It was my first Zelda game, ever. I was pretty young when I played the game, and I never really felt like the game was meant to be that chibi back then. The new look is just a tad too much cuteness and chibi for my taste

I agree, I found this theme yesterday, most of the other castle themes are just updated versions of the original. This one however increases the depth of feeling found after you learn the truth. The only complaint I have is that the new music should have lowered in volume when the chiptune sections began, the original sounds get lost in the new sounds.

I ran into this theme yesterday and I was immediately impressed (never played the original). I also love soundtracks in general and your channel is the perfect place to keep the love alive. Keep up the great work!

If this game had a constant 60fps framerate and wouldn't shift resolutions all the time, it would be one of the best remakes ever.

I am so, SO happy that the Face Shrine music sounds as good as I had hoped. It was my favorite song from the original, being very emotionally heavy (given the context) even for an 8 bit song. I get chills every time I hear the original chiptune kick in.

This was always my favorite song in the original, so I was excited to hear it in the remake. When I first heard I was a little taken aback how different it was to the original but it almost immediately became my favorite song in the remake, plus the little 8 bit throwback was a nice touch.

The Face Shrines are the turning point in the game. Not many other game cameos or whimsical moments after this (unless you haven't got the frog song yet, I guess) and every interaction with major characters is touched by sadness. This song hits like a truck. And it's one of the few that uses the original 8 bit sound. Also there's this weird feeling that comes with smashing those big statues, like you're shattering the illusion.

It's like you're walking through a dark, quiet city after hearing about creepy happenings happening, and you find out the truth that you can't do anything about it because you have nothing you CAN do about it. As you leave town, you notice the creepy happenings, well, happening around you, and all you can do is keep walking.

I was nervous when they first announced the remake of links awakening because my first though was “ PLEASE DONT RUIN FACE SHRINE, EAGLE TOWER & TAL TAL HEIGHTS THEME”. I like the eerie feel the music is going with & glad they added the classic tune with it. Oh & it was about afew years ago i found out that the map of the face shrine was link’s face shedding a tear from his right eye....

This was hands down my favourite piece of music in this remake. I found myself just letting Link stand there in the shrine so I could take in the music. They did an outstanding job of redoing all the shrine music but this one really stood out to me.

I'm listening to this with headphones. It seems as if the lighter chords (violins) are on the left side only and the deeper chords (cello I guess?) are on the right side only. Or vice versa, if I put the headphones backwards again. Is this on purpose? It makes the track feel a bit weird to me.

Face Shrine just after that very revealing short trip always carried some strong feelings with me. the original Dungeon Music was already eerie and even the name carried some weight with it. while i still have mixed feelings about the Switch Version at least they did very well on the BGM's.

@The Human Stunlock cool I´ve beaten the game 20+ times on gameboy and even glitchless I can beat the gameboy game in like 4-5 hours and from teh few streams I saw this can be easily beaten in under 10 hours aswell for my first playthrough oh and ter gameboy games were ALWAYS cheaper then the main line titles and this is first of all a remake and second not a main line title so the price is just too high

@Agarillo Bob What do you mean main line? Link's Awakening is main series. Handheld games are just usually cheaper than home console games. But this remake is a home console game. Also, most people haven't beat the game even more than once, so it would be at least 20 hours for them. I would estimate at least 40 hours for people who haven't played the game before.

@some pizza guy this, this guy gets it. just because you beat the game a million times doesn't mean it's a 6 hour game, if you actualy play games to enjoy them and don't speedrun them, games like this one are fully justified with thier pricing.

@Agarillo Bob The top down Zelda games are "main line", too, like A Link Between Worlds and Minish Cap. Perspective shouldn't change a price. Link's Awakening really isn't that short, and I don't think there is even one short canon Zelda game. Saying it's the shortest compared to other Zelda titles doesn't mean much.. Also, there seem to be some added collectibles in the remake that would add to the length of the original. Handheld games are really only inferior to home console games graphically (though the Game Boy has the limitation of not having many buttons). Whether this remake is overpriced or not depends on the consumer. Some people may think the game is long enough while other might not, and some might finish the game faster than others. Some people only want to beat the story and don't want to get any collectibles or do any side quest. So I think it is not overpriced, at least for some people.

Inferiority is as well not the point here. I´m not talking about some opinion if one finds it overprized and one might not I´m talking about the facts here. Remake. Short. Not Mainline. The original was one of the cheapest. this IS overpriced yes and there is literally no reason to argue, Price to content ratio here is lackluster compared to other zelda games. The price is that high because Nintendo knows people will buy it and tbf its half a day of work payment so nothing I could not buy or I just wait 2-3 years till the game has a reasonable price of 30-20 money I would have even understood a launch price of 40 but paying the same then other first party nintendo games is just unacceptable

My opinion if this would release at that high price with present content was determinied way before tho and even seeing the extra content they added as collectibles and dampe the price to contend ratio is still the worst 1st party switch game and zelda game of recent years

Also, this song gives me chills, especially when the chiptune section comes in, and with how tragic this song sounds especially after learning the truth. This is probably my most favorite zelda song in the franchise.
