I played through the 3DS version of this game a couple months ago and loved it just as much. Sure the graphics are not as good as the PS2 version, but the quality of life changes make such a positive impact that I don't think I could go back to the original version, mainly being able to see the monsters and the faster combat. The one big negative for me is the midi music which is nowhere near as pleasant, especially the overworld. One thing's for sure, it cemented DQVIII as one of my favorites in the series.

SupraDarky Hopefully DQ11S does well enough that we could get similar definitive rerelease for DQ8. I’d love to try the 3DS content, but I’m too attached to the way it feels on PS2

Thankfully with CFW it's easy to patch the orchestrated soundtrack into the 3DS game.

The graphics might not be as good as the PS2 version but for a 3DS game with so much in it for the game to look as good as it does it's impressive.

The JP version of the 3DS game got the orchestral themes. We didn't get it for this or VII either.

Koichi Sugiyama really doesn't like it when people listen to the orchestrated versions of his music in the DQ games and pretty much forces fans to buy the albums and attend the concerts. And because he holds a tight grip on the copyrights, Square-Enix essentially has to twist his arm real hard to include them.

@mr3urious Since he is a very right-winged conservativ there are a lot of things he doesn't like. Its sad really. We have this very pleasant piece of music and than we have the very unpleasant man composing it. :/

My fave of the DQ games and it's a shame there is no remaster for it. The portable one hurts my head and eyes due to the small screen. Did not like how they changed Jessica's Voice actress either.

Sugiyama shines in sad/melancholic themes. Overall i wouldn't say the DQ saga ranks among the best jrpg osts, when there's Kondo or Uematsu, but he knows how to write gems. But DQ11's ost with its stupid fights over rights, and its average quality, makes me think they should star seeking for a successor

Try the Dragon Quest 11 Demo. You get to play a big portion of the game and as soon as the second party member joins in, you’ll see why this series is so great. I never played it before the demo either but I’m so glad I have.

Easily one of the best JRPGS on PS2 and even of all time. I absolutely adore Dragon Quest 11 with a passion, but imo 8 is still the best in the franchise.. I really really hope they will remaster this masterpiece one day.

They remastered it on 3DS but I hope they adapt it over to the Switch at least. The Remasters content makes it so worth playing it again. You get Red and Morrie as playable characters, There are new endings, (Finally get to marry Jessica)

wildarmsfan Go on his website sugimania.com and it show his dragon quest concerts and show dates of where they will be in japan I highly recommend you talk to the house manager and ask them if you can be able to meet him that’s what I did

SupraDarky, thanks for pulling music from multiple games and sampling it for us. It give people a chance to listen to music that we may not have had a chance to listen to if we hadn't played the game.

very wonderful :) just wish this game didn't have every boss mess up your psyche-up ability with wave of ice. Felt it died after Dhoulmagus who started this (which would be ok as a final boss). Yangus was my favorite, eh guv?
