I'm sure many will disagree with me, but with this game being one of my favorites ever, there is no doubt in my mind that the remake will be awesome as well... I just cannot help but be worried with its art direction, music included. What makes this game so amazing to me is its unique and darker atmosphere and I'm worried that this essential aspect will be lost. Just thinking about the Face Shrine and its theme for example, I can hardly imagine how it will sound like and can only hope they do it justice. I'll wait and see, but I truly hope I am wrong and can look back at this comment with a smile.

I'm surprised to see you say the game had a darker atmosphere. I always thought it was one of the sillier Zelda games.

SupraDarky my favorite Zelda of all time. This game captures the quirks and magic and mirth that makes the Zelda series so special.

Going simply based off of the music from the trailer, I think they're going to be arranging the music as small orchestral ensembles. So with pieces like face shrine, I imagine they'll use many low-mid range instruments (likely woodwinds). I think they'll nail both the eerie-ness of the game as well as the silliness.

@Daytime Sky I kinda agree, Link's Awakening had a strong contrast between the silly innocent parts and the whole thing where the island and all of its inhabitants cease to exist when the wind fish wakes up. It felt like everyone in the game had this feeling of futility, as if they were just enjoying their time right before their inevitable demise.

And I agree with the worry over the artstyle. It's got a very Little Tikes look to it. I didn't care much for how ALBW looked, and this looks like they dialed up the softness. We'll see how it turns out, though. Nintendo always surprises me.

i'm also very sceptical about the remake. Links Awakening was one of my first Zelda Games and is indeed pretty dark. as such the cute art style just doesn't fit well to it. also, from the trailer that i have seen, they remade the map 1:1 into 3D, meaning, not adding anything, which to me feels just too lazy. but maybe they'll surprise us with mood changing art style, though i rather doubt it. i just wonder, what will a player, new to the Game entirely, feel once he hits the south face shrine, gets exposed to the truth with that (cannot find a better description than) cute art style.

I love the artwork you chose!! Definitely making that my desktop this week :D And as my second Zelda (the first being OOT) this one always had a special place in my heart. Those two took me months, OOT even more than a year, to complete!

@Incognito D Eh, pretty simply. Watching a video for the information (like say, an online lecture), I often speed it up. Then when I click on a video for entertainment (like say, music), I forget that I had done that.

You think so? I mean, don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad song at all, but it doesn't do anything truly interesting with the audio hardware, or in other words: It has very simplistic sound design. *This*, instead, does truly push the soundchip to it's limits. My favourite 2D Zelda game. I liked how out of place and wacky this game is, with it not being set in Hyrule or having anything to do with your traditional Zelda formula (involving Zelda, Ganon etc.) and having weird Mario enemies. The music really reflected this aspect. I just hope they don't mess with anything that made this game so magical. The ending being one of them. That being said: *Here's hoping for a 3d remake of Oracle of Ages and Seasons!*
